Last week, in light of the tragic events in Louisiana, Mississippi, and the entire Gulf Coast area, we joined in the call for prayer for victims of Hurricane Katrina. We also added a note of caution:

I wrote: “Tragically, through the years, we have seen radical organizations use times of national tragedy to attempt to advance their agenda. We pray that no one will exploit the plight of those who have lost loved ones, who have been displaced, who have seen their homes lost and friends devastated, for personal or ideological gain. Please be assured that ADF, with God’s grace, will continue to remain vigilant and stand guard for religious freedom, the sanctity of life, marriage, and the family in the days and weeks ahead.”

SANCTITY OF LIFE??? WHERE IS THE REQUEST TO SEND HELP TO THE HURRICANE VICTIMS THAT THE "LEFT-WING" IS SUPPOSEDLY TRYING TO EXPLOIT????

WE ARE ACTUALLY HELPING THESE PEOPLE AND ASKING OTHERS TO HELP THEM!!! AND WE'RE THE ONES EXPLOITING THEM!?!?!?!

Unfortunately, the radical activists in California’s legislative body have done it again.

Remember, it was on September 12, 2001 when they shoved through a state “domestic partnership” law that granted homosexual “couples” virtually all of the same rights as married couples. They accomplished this while the rest of the world was focused on aiding the thousands of families grieving their losses from the terrorist attack on America and restoring basic services to Manhattan. Once again, their “timing” was impeccable.

On September 1, 2005, just days after Hurricane Katrina unleashed her wrath on New Orleans and the Gulf Coast - once again while the rest of America focused on emergency assistance - radical advocates of homosexual behavior in the California State Senate rammed through AB849, which changes California law to allow marriage between “two persons” instead of “a man and a woman.” Assemblyman Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) amended an unrelated marine research bill already in committee to sneak same-sex “marriage” through. This is just another example of the contempt by radical activists for the will of Californians, who voted by a 61-39% margin in 2000 to enact Proposition 22 which affirms marriage in California as between one man and one woman. California courts have clearly held, under the state’s constitution, that such propositions override the legislature as the clearest and most direct expression of the will of the people.

You can be assured that ADF will be in the forefront of the continuing legal battle to defend and protect the will of the people and affirm traditional marriage in the Golden State.

ADF joins with Americans across the country in deep prayer and with great concern for the people of the Greater New Orleans and Southern Mississippi coastal areas who were so terribly impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

Among our many concerns are ADF’s numerous allied attorneys, trained through our National Litigation Academy program, and who have faithfully served the Body of Christ in the Southeast region.

We offer special prayers for them.

We also have numerous young people who are graduates of our Blackstone Legal Fellowship whose law schools are now closed, homes unreachable, and employment affected. And we have many ministry friends who have prayed for our ministry’s efforts and have sacrificially given funds to make ADF’s work possible – many who we cannot reach by phone or e-mail. We pray for the loving arms of God to surround and protect each and every one of them.

ADF Victory Allows “Silenced” Citizens to Once Again Have a Voice!

Once again, the so-called “voices of tolerance” have shown that their “tolerance” is our silence.

In Asbury Park, New Jersey, local citizens wanted to exercise their free speech rights, to express their opposition to the Superintendent of Schools’ appointing as the new president of the school board the former manager of a local “club” that featured homosexual activity.

Club Paradise promoted events featuring “actors” portraying sexual activity and “hot-hot-go-go boys.” The “club’s” website included much inappropriate materials, links to embarrassing links, and had no age verification requirement.

Local citizens showed up at a public session to express concerns over the new president’s direction of educational policy - given his involvement with Club Paradise – but they were prevented from doing so. The board created a policy allowing “personally directed” speech to be “restricted.”

ADF allied attorney Dennis Caulfield went to bat for the concerned community members before the U.S. District Court, asking that the citizens be allowed to exercise their constitutional right to free speech.

Last Tuesday, the federal court issued the requested order.

Lawyer Caulfield adds: “The school board president’s judgment and character is a legitimate question for the community to address. The president cannot rely on a vague and subjective policy to silence legitimate public comment on his fitness to direct children’s education.”
