what happened in the house????? I"m lost!
I was reading the thread where people watching said they were going to talk impeachment. I turn on cpan, only to watch long minutes of silence, a passing of the Katrina funding, and the n a motion to adjourn.

Did they ever get to say "impeachment"? or was the motion to adjourn a dirty trick to stop it?

someone fill me in, please...thanks.

8. Cynthia McKinney started ....
..when I tuned in she was reading a laundry-list of failures of government. Then I forget his first name...his last name is Paul from Texas who spoke more truth about the war in Iraq than I have heard from any representative. He spoke of oi, illogical reasons for war, the illegality of the war, the fault of congress for allowing it to happen, the war-hungry American people. It was a good listen...I wish him well.

5. If the outrage keeps up the Repugs will jump ship...
they do not want to go down w/ the 'US Bushco'. They are all concerned with their own re-elections. Diebold and ES&S will not be able to help them if their #'s are inn the mid-forties or 30s.

11. When I read that, I laughed, then I felt bad that I had laughed...
It is SO typical of people dealing with others who don't have the resources that they do to have just NO CLUE! ...and then they blame them for not taking responsibility.

Don't get me going...

9. Here's What Happened
Cynthia McKinney gave a speech slamming Bush. She was gaveled down (apparently before her time was up) by the House Chair and admonished from "ascribing improper motives to the President".
Before she was silenced, she mentioned in her speech that later someone else would be addressing the issue of impeachment...

McKinney was followed by Ron Paul, a Texas Republican, who gave a long and blistering critique of Bush's Iraq policy.

Then someone came in and (I think) delivered a message from the President. It was then read into the record. I wasn't listening closely but it was something about an emergency order expiring unless the president renewed it and that therefore it was being renewed.

Then silence.

C-Span cut to Bush's 10 minute speech about relief benefits.

That was followed by a 20-minute thing on Cheney's trip to Mississippi (and the "Go f..k yourself, Mr. Cheney" incident.

12. thanks. so apparently no one got to bring it up?
typical.

you know, after we get our country back, we need to revisit the checks and balances strategy and make it so NO PARTY can ever again control all three. I don't even want US to control all three. We've seen how fugly it becomes.
