Compare Lott to DeLay for a moment...
I hate Trent Lott as much as anyone here, but I must admit, I was never fully convinced that what he said was MEANT to be a racist comment. That's just my opinion, not the point of this post.

Lott was ridden out on a rail by his own party who were trying to save face. Right?

So, why would a thrice rebuked shitbag like DeLay not garner the same response?

4. I honestly don't think Lott is as evil
as DeLay. I heard him on NPR last week and he give Clinton a LOT of credit for working with him. They got the deficit down, they did a lot of good, and he said that he is proud of all they accomplished. (I am not supportive of ALL they achieved, so don't freak on me, please.)

DeLay is evil. I think Lott, being a little older, is just clueless.

with race I feel quite certain. But he is not the spawn of satan so there is no comparison to Delay.

edited to add: Delay is fucking ruthless. People are seriously afraid of him.

6. You're all right on this one! DeLay made sure all of them got $$
legal or not, to get re-elected! He's got 'em and he knows it!

Lott is no more than an Alabama idiot. If you listen to him closely now, he's still a Pub, but not an evil man like the leaders are!

7. Bushco wanted to dump Lott as leader
and that gave them a perfect opportunity.

If they wanted to save Lott's ass they could have easily, but they let him go down and even hastened the process.
