4. I think the phones are ringing off the hook back in D.C. So why not give
the head guy phone watch duty.

16. My thoughts
Something is up. They never say they are wrong about something. So he's probably going to either use the family thing or another job.

11. He couldn't attend the PARTY tomorrow if he is still on the ground in NO

However do you really think this BFEE would ever accept blame for anything? Hell No. At least Colonel Klink finally recognizes that Brown doesn't have a clue, this is a plus. Although Little bit late.

2. deflecting without admitting
The official reason will express no displeasure with his performance--just a desire to have him focus his "great talents" elsewhere.

8. Thing is, this will shift focus more to the Administration by default.
Especially with Bush's idiotic comment about "Brownie."

White or Black is pretty much eliminated from consideration.

21. Are you referring to -

On Friday when Bush said "Your doing a GREAT JOB here Brownie".

When he said that I wanted to puke.

9. Could this be
something James Whitt requested in an "or else" fashion? Seems too sudden for the Bushies to do it on their own.

10. "Replaced on the ground" according to CNN.
Will return to D.C. to run FEMA from there.
Replacement is coast guard admiral.

So they "fire" him without actually firing him.
That would be admitting a mistake and they just cannot do that.

I may or may not have a friend of a friend who lives across the street from him and says he lets his dogs out without a leash... :P

Just wait. That is how they show the American people what wonderful people work for this criminally negligent administration.

22. It's them being forced to admit Brown is a failure.
They were damned either way and probably decided that without Brown, the political fallout will blow over faster for them. It gets Brown out of the news at least. The Bushies assume that they can weather it as they have so many other smoking gun revelations of Bush's inadequacy for the presidency.

24. LAME excuse of the decade: needed back in D.C. in case of other crises!
Sorry, that doesn't fly. He FAILED in responding to THIS crisis. That's the entire point. So now you're gonna let him do it AGAIN???? What if there is another hurricane? Are we going to have a repeat??? What if there is a terrorist attack? Is he gonna sic arabian horses on the terrorists?

FIRE BROWN. NOW.

The admin must think that this is the way to avoid blame. It sure seems to me that it is a reason for INCREASED criticism. If he couldn't handle Katrina do we really want him in charge of the next emergency?
