Can someone please tell me how it would be possible to hide 60K bodies?

How could they be hidden?

Look ... we have the world's media there ... all over the place. 60,000 bodies are not an easy thing to cover up.

Even in third world dictatorships where there was NO media the word got out. How could they be hidden here.

I believe to my core that this cabal will do anything and everything to protect themselves.

They couldn't plant WMD in Iraq.

And they can't make 60,000 dead bodies disappear.

To say otherwise requires one's head to be fully engulfed in tin foil.

but, yes, between gators, thousands perhaps being washed out to sea, thousands decomposing and literally coming apart......geesh.

I also read here a few minutes ago the thought that the fires may be disguising the burning of bodies. I wouldn't doubt that whatsoever. I kind of expected them to allow much of the city to burn, for just that reason. Maybe they succeeded in gathering thousands of bodies in those warehouses and that's what's happening. Who knows. We'll probably never know.

We don't even know how many were in the Superdome (alive). Brian Williams says 10k. I saw head of the New Orleans Sex Crimes division on CNN earlier, and he said it was several hundreds of his force along with a couple hundreds National Guard policing 30k in the Superdome. So that number is very elusive. BTW, he also was dispelling the rumor about rampant rapes going on. He said he was aware of two. I don't know if he stayed in there the entire time though.

there is so much speculation that is being bandied about and treated as gospel,...its kind of scary. FEMA said....it did not want photo's of the dead being taken...and we get from that...'Media Black-out'. Huh? Did not want..does not mean can not. Reporters are in New Orleans. Camera crews are in New Orleans. Respect for the victim and the victims families, matter to some people. There are plenty of verifiable facts of atrocity's to discuss, but people have to keep it real...at least that's what i think.

I DO NOT WANT THE death toll to be truly high. I wish everyone could escape. Naturally it would be hard for the already infirm to escape or they might have complications and pass away...but even 2,000 or 5,000 is too many in my judgement.

if there is no list that someone can check and say "my son and daughter aren't on the list" and get it corrected, the gov can say there were only 17 dead. of course, they'll make it somewhat believable...7,000...3,000...5,000...whatever

I heard from a co-worker that the Mexican Army units in country now
would be used to gather bodies to limit press and word of mouth.
I don't believe it ( why would they keep quiet? anyway)
But there are Mexican units operating on US soil for the first time since

This is very tramatic stuff, especially for the people who lost loved ones. I think Gen Honore and Nagin are trying to do a difficult job that brings respect to the dead and at the same time protects the survivors.

Fortunately, it does appear that not as many people drowned in NO has we feared. Isn't that a good thing?

14. Wood-chippers should do the trick

It's the fleshy equivalent of shredding incriminating documents. It would not surprise me if some high-ups were leasing a fleet of them as we speak.

And if someone were to say, "Hey, what are you doing with those bodies?" they could just say, "What bodies? Nothing happening here," take down that someone's name and number for later use, and hey presto!

Part of the "trimming the government" efforts of Clinton/Gore was reduce the number of documents called "sensitive" or other nonclassified categories such as "official use only" due to the administration cost of this.

Well, the number of managed and officially classified docs last year WAS DOUBLE that of 2001. They are really really into hiding things.

15. I haven't heard anyone talking about 60000 deaths (that was a computer

model). The concern is whether the official death count will be anything close to the real death count. Mayor Nagin has be saying "we hope it's not more than 10,000". So if we take that as a rough (high) estimate, it's not as difficult to drop the official count by 20%.

The issue is WHY they're trying to shut out the media. No one has any reason right now to trust the Bush administration - the number of lies they have spouted just since the hurricane hit is unbelievable.

The media so far has not been showing faces of the dead, so there's not any reason to believe they will. In fact, I think whether or not the media shows the faces is a much different concern here, compared to a regular disaster. Given that recovery has taken so long, media pictures may end up being invaluable for easy identification of bodies. This doesn't mean I think they should be showing faces, just that the pictures may help (at least some search and recovery teams are photographing bodies and using GPS to establish their location).

We need the media in NO to provide a record of what the federal government is doing; the federal gov't has lost the faith of the people.

21. There was a post on here last night about

pictures showing mutilated bodies (most without heads) piled up in the Superdome. At the time, I asked myself, why mutilated bodies from a hurricane? Then I considered the "lockdown" of the Superdome, the press being kicked out of NO, no pictures being allowed.

Now, consider who we are dealing with, and how much they don't want the body count to be "all that bad". They are chopping up those bodies for a reason. It would be easy to put an extra arm or leg, or even a head into a body bag with another body. They'll only count the body bags when this is all over.

With this crew in charge, my guess is we will never know how many really died. Never.

don't pick up the bodies for several weeks, and in a hot humid climate they'll decompose. The land scavengers - rats, dogs, gators, etc. - will get what's left. Many may have been washed into bayous, lakes, or out to sea: the shrimp, crayfish and other fishes will get those.
Leaving New Orleans out of the picture - there are probably a lot of people unaccounted for in the poor rural areas: I don't think anyone official's been out there yet.
Oh, there will be bits and pieces found for the next few decades, a skull here, a femur there. But unless someone makes an effort to count all the bodies in all the states, I doubt we'll ever know how many were killed - even approximate numbers.

They can keep all the counts of the bodies found, but in the end, as you say so correctly, many will never be recovered due entirely to the course of nature.

But we need to make sure that the survivors get to list the one's they can't find. Family and neighbors ..... like to widow down the street that had no family or the street person who always lived on the corner.

This won't be accurate - there is quite likely NO accurate way to know - but will be a fair and reasonable approximation. In the end, that's probably the best we'll ever get.

by any chance suggesting that we should ask the survivors that are in camps that have barbed wire and armed guards? Survivors, that are more or less being held incommunicado? In camps that they aren't allowed to leave for the next 5 months..? Just curious...because I believe the way the body count is being handled is, like everything else...deliberate.....If every person is gone, there are no witnesses to anything that happens...I don't think they really think want us to know how many lives, the gutting of emergency services and funding have caused...for the safety of their own hides...

Does anyone but me, question if there might be another reason, the survivors are being strewn haphazardly all over the country? A hundred here, a few thousand there...surely helps keep the numbers confused...Sure, people jumped in to help, opening their homes, hearts, all over the country, which is great, but...To even arrive at an estimate, of the lost..you would have to have a reasonable idea as to how many really evacuated...and compare the number to the last census...who's going to be able to accomplish that with people all over the states?

A city of 500,000? Do we really believe that all but a couple hundred got out? (They found 40 bodies in one freezer alone, in the convention center, and others stacked in the dome)....not me...not with the way, help was delayed..in 90+ degree heat, w/o water for 4 days or more? uh uh...w/o food, yeah..w/o water on the other hand, is quite a different story...then add the gators, rats, dogs into the mix...we'll never know...The computer program that they ran, said the loss would be about 62,000...I think we can count on that to be pretty accurate...
