In his defense of the admministration, Limbaugh intentionally flubs N.O. Mayor Nagin's name. Give a listen and you tell me.

The reason I ask is that when I click the link, I get a dialog box in Firefox asking me if I want to save the file or play it in the default player. Your browser has to know which application to use for specific file types.

I'm sorry, but as much as I can't stand Limpball, I have to say that people are not hearing this audio correctly.

Go back and listen to it again - he is blurring the word "Mayor" and "Nager" - he even corrects himself.

Even read a bunch of comments at Crooks and Liars.

I'm not defending this jerk, but in this case he just makes a slip of the tongue. It's not even in the same manner as when Armey said "Barney Fag". Armey actually smirked.

but we should be careful that we stick to legitimate criticism and not illegitimate criticism. I am no fan of Limbaugh but this isn't an example of him doing his usual race baiting. It was clearly a corrected mistake.

It's like I said - I cannot stand Limpball, but one thing I do not like is the casual tossing around of the accusation of someone being a racist. Now Limpball might have many acts of racism in his background, but go back and listen to this audio clip again - there is no inflection in the voice; nothing. His voice pattern is exactly the same in the spoken sentence and you can tell that this is just a slip of the tongue.

If you want to call him on his racial politics, then use a valid one. This one is not it.

Put aside bias and listen to this clip again. In this case it is just not there.

I just don't like it when people play the race card when it is not there and this is one of those times.

One time while talking with a mixed crowd I used the phrase "these people" in a sentence and was cut off by a black friend before being able to finish the sentence (she did it in a joking manner - "What to you mean 'these people'!?!") and if she would have let me finish it would have been clear the sentence was not going to be a Ross Perot type of "you people". She knew I'm not that way, but others present might have read into it.

I got the same impression. Sounds to me like he ran Nagin and mayor together in his rant. Might be an Oxycontin moment, but I don't think he was trying to be cute....

I hate the bastard as much as anyone, but I think this is a case of tripping over words in his dialogue.

Lots of things to hang Rush on...I don't think this is one of them.
