Here in Alabama, W stickers on the back windows of SUVs are as common as humidity.

But I heard a story today that warms my heart. A Democratic friend told of her rock-solid, flag-waving, Bush-loving GOP neighbors who reluctantly admitted that, yes indeed, Bush has fucked up with Hurricane Katrina.

That doesn't mean they are ready to vote for Democrats. But it does mean they have shut up.

If Bush cannot depend on the unwavering support of white, Christian, suburban voters in Alabama, he is royally fucked.

But he ain't gonna be running for office anymore. We should tie Bush firmly around the necks of every Republican running in 2006 and 2008. I don't think the Republican elite are going to take the chance of pissing off Chimpy and his family, and it will be good to see them squirm trying to distance themselves from Chimpy while trying not to look like they're distancing themselves.

6. Katrina may change the tide for Repug Southerners, no pun intended

Granted, the Repug Lie Machine will try to change the subject to how it's the nigg^rs who caused the problem (like they have done for decades), but with rising gas prices and such, they may see the light soon.

Don't keep your hopes up. These people are one-issue anti-choice Repugs, but they may finally START seeing the light that the rich fatcats that really run the GOP are Bushies, aka fake Souherners who are really Yankees.

Who knows. If we can get some Southern Iraq War vets running as Democrats for office, all hell could break loose for the Southern Repug vote.

I live in upstate SC and just had a conversation today with a woman who has always been a BIG Bushie. She said he should be impeached. She said she was sick of him 'and the horse he rode in on'. She meant the whole GOP shooting match.

My office is divided 50/50 pukes/Dems. The Dems have been sedated for a long time in the office. The pukes discussed politics openly and the Dems smiled sheepishly and tried to get away as quickly as possible. That has changed over the past week. The dems are now talking politics very openly and, for once, the pukes are all quiet. I think this is very telling.

11. A few of my friends here in Alabama have turned

One guy, in his late-60s, came over the other night. One of the first things he said was, "Well, you were right. Bush is going to destroy this country". He and his wife had been voting repuke since Reagan. He also said, "My mother always told me to never vote for republicans because all they care about is their rich friends. If she and my older brother were still around, they would want to kick my ass for helping vote in these clowns".

Other friends are still repeating Rove's talking points, but they don't seem real enthusiastic. Also, many of them have removed their black W stickers.

How many votes does he need? Think republicans not Bush*. Bush* is old news. Nobody cares about him, it is the Republican agenda that you need to worry about not Bush*.
