Proposal for DU Group: Nonviolent Civil Disobedience

Our mission statement:

The mission of the DU Nonviolent Civil Disobedience Group is to drive Bush from office as quickly as possible through fearless and creative action. We will use the power of the Internet to instigate direct, nonviolent action in the streets.

Members of the forum will:
1. Plan, publicize, and carry out creative acts of Civil Disobedience.
2. Make ties with other activist groups outside DU and work with them.
3. Alert DU to calls for Civil Disobedience from other groups.
4. Do more than circulate petitions, write email and posts, and march along legal protest march routes.
5. Share the experience of grizzled old activists with angry young whelps.

I've had enough, people. We can't react to Bush's crimes like we're FEMA - lumbering, timid, and ineffective.

I am shifting gears in my commitment. I want that bastard canned SOON.

4. Here's my plan of action ...

I plan to get poster paper and markers to make up a bunch of signs on various topics. Then as I go about my daily routines I will make time (at least 5 minutes each day) to stop somewhere and hold up one of the signs. The locations will vary, but will be where there is heavy traffic passing by to see it. I will then go along my way.

If enough of us started doing this there would be thousands of mini-protests daily, nearly everwhere, and the Bushbots wouldn't be able to effectively counter the great majority of it.

Likewise I will continue signing petitions, calling my government officials, writing letters, talking to other people, etc, in the hopes that we can drum up a massive peaceful civil protest daily, large enough to overwhelm any press censorship and to eventually force the resignation or impeachment/conviction/imprisonment of these criminals who are committing daily treason from the White House and Capitol Hill.

but I'm not really good at coming up with ideas of things to do for that sort of stuff. I love to hear other peoples ideas, though.
