If the Government knew what would happen if a huge hurricane
hit New Orleans (and it did) but did nothing to protect Americans and their property, is that criminal? I mean, I was thinking about it tonight, Hurricane Pam, the simulation, predicted exactly what happen. Yet, they did nothing. To me, it seems criminal for the Government, right after the Pam experiment done in July 2004, not to immediately launch a plan to protect the people. I mean I know that they can't raise the city, but it seems to me at the very least they could have launched a public awareness kind-of-thing in the area to inform people about the risks with such a storm. I guess, to me, it seems negligent to know and not do anything about it; criminal even since that is a primary duty of our Government - protect the people.

2. Hey, New Orleans was full of blacks that voted Dem,
What more do you need to know about this administration lack of action and FEMA's foot dragging? The bu$h administration needs to stay in power and can only think political. They know that if they lose power and they go to jail - the higher ups for the rest of their lives.

3. Fed funding cut for planning for improved evacuation plan & other issues
noted during Hurricane Pam exercise. FEMA was to work with state, locals on this.

As it was, though, it appeared what they all were relying on for evacuation was "faith based" groups and Red Cross assisting in evacuating those who could not do so on their own.

Not pretty, but here's excerpt from a July 2005 article from NOLA's newspaper:

City, state and federal emergency officials are preparing to give the poorest of New Orleans' poor a historically blunt message: In the event of a major hurricane, you're on your own.

In scripted appearances being recorded now, officials such as Mayor Ray Nagin, local Red Cross Executive Director Kay Wilkins and City Council President Oliver Thomas drive home the word that the city does not have the resources to move out of harm's way an estimated 134,000 people without transportation.

In the video, made by the anti-poverty agency Total Community Action, they urge those people to make arrangements now by finding their own ways to leave the city in the event of an evacuation.

"You're responsible for your safety, and you should be responsible for the person next to you," Wilkins said in an interview. "If you have some room to get that person out of town, the Red Cross will have a space for that person outside the area. We can help you.

"But we don't have the transportation."

4. The law has no meaning to these people.
Their crimes abound. Election fraud, bribery, treason, elective warfare, torture, the list is almost endless.

Political will can defeat them. We must be unified in our opposition. The political middle with come with us if we are resolute. I believe they will recognize the strength of our messsage. Then, his hard right-wing support in Congress will jump ship or face defeat in 2006. We must be unified.

7. They quit calling it "Hurrican Pam"
when they saw how bad the destruction would be and began to call it "Hurricane KYAG".
Kiss Your Ass Goodbye.
Read that somewhere online.
