Apparently Newt Gingrich is running for President
He is highly visible these days. Can repugs like him somehow gain political ground as a result of Katrina?

1. His Limit Governmented mantra on ABC today is vomit worthy
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 08:49 AM by Wickerman
He has a knack of sounding like he is talking common sense, yet for all his noise he isn't offering any solutions, he only offers more social experimentation - and the kind that has failed time and again in the past.

edit - had wrong news program.

6. That's not a popular mantra these days
If anything, they want to hear how government can better protect them.

8. no, but he is gonna try to spin it back
and it will give comfort to the Rethuglican's who are perhaps suffering momentary twinges of internal conflict as they write the checks to upgrade the Jacuzzi at the vacation home with their tax cuts as they watch the NOLA destruction on their Plasma screens.

2. Of course he is, silly
Only people who have been a.) Involved in a past scandal, or b.) have used shameless opportunism, can be presidential candidates for the GOP.

3. In a word? ....... yes
I find him horribly odious, but I also respect his political skill. He's a worry for me come 08. He is a mad dog hatemonger uberconservative who can sound incredibly populist and reasonable.

4. He would be a thousand times better than Bush, imo. Although I disagree
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 08:51 AM by blm
with Gingrich RABIDLY on many issues, he understood the importance of the Hart-Rudman Report on Global Terror and contributed to its findings. I believe Sy Hersh even used him as a source when he blistered Bush's incompetence shortly after 9-11.

The only decent action of governance Newt ever took.

10. He harps on the effectiveness of private vs govt
Keeps talking about how well computers, ATMs, cell phones, etc work compared to govt bueracracy.

It will resonate with some, but I don't see him getting any mod/dem votes

11. Good!! He can explain why he was trashing Clinton 24/7 for his BJ..
When Newty himself was fucking some little girlfriend on the side all the while trashing Clinton and screeching about Impeachment.

Jesus,I wish I known about Newt and his girlfriend. I could have received a $million from Larry Flynt--no wait, Flynt probably would have paid $5 million to bring that ASSHOLE down.

13. I never even thought
about him when just two days ago I was discussing with a friend who the Republicans would run in 2008.

Gingrich, sadly, is the logical heir to W. Trust me, if he really does run, all of those things we despise most about him, including is complete lack of compassion for anyone else, simply won't matter.

And don't forget who owns the voting machines. All during the 2004 campaign when so many people were giddy at the prospect of Democrats taking over, I kept on pointing out that they were assuming a free, fair, and honest election, and I all along doubted that would occur. Same thing for 2006 and 2008. In a free, fair, and honest election the Democrats would take over. What makes you even begin to think that the elections will be anything but corrupt and dishonest?

Will this make for civil Presidential Debates?
