Bush the narcissist is manipulating Nagin.
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 05:08 PM by Writer
Bush wants Nagin to speak up against Blanco and believe a line of lies that Bush was "upset" and "dismayed" about the genocide in New Orleans.

I wish I knew telepathy. Mayor Nagin - OPEN YOUR EYES! THIS IS THE SAME MAN WHO MANIPULATED AN ENTIRE NATION INTO BELIEVING WE MUST VENTURE INTO IRAQ. HE IS DANGEROUS!

On edit: Please keep this thread kicked - for no other reason than I believe this is a message that must get out.

5. No, he's sweet-talking Nagin. Giving him what he wants to hear.
Manipulating, cowardly, trying to get Nagin to arrive at the conclusion that Blanco didn't do her part and that Bush "ain't all that bad!"

26. Nagin is a big-business Republican.
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 07:13 PM by tblue37
He switched his registration to Dem to run for mayor, because a Republcian can't get elected in NO. He belongs to Bush's natural constituency.

He also endorsed Blanco's opponent in the guberbatorial race.

27. That;'s right he endorsed Bobby Jindal...the current congressman
he was an exec with Cox. Have you noticed recently he seems to be trying to play the "black" card? Blanco, should definitely NOT trust him...and much of the current problems do begin with him.

8. About Nagin
Well, This's for Them: NAGIN Was/Is a Repuke Who Ran Dem
**************QUOTE*********

Before his election, Nagin was a member of the Republican Party and had little political experience; he was a vice president and general manager at Cox Communications, a cable communications company and subsidiary of Cox Enterprises. Nagin did give contributions periodically to candidates, namely President George W. Bush and former Republican U.S. Representative Billy Tauzin in 1999 and 2000, as well as to Democratic U.S. Senators John Breaux and J. Bennett Johnston earlier in the decade.

Days before filing for the New Orleans Mayoral race in February 2002, Nagin switched his party registration to the Democratic Party. Shortly before the primary election, an endorsement praising Nagin as a reformer by Gambit Magazine gave him crucial momentum that would carry through for the primary election and runoff. In the first round of the crowded mayoral election in February 2002, Nagin received first place with 29% of the vote, against such opponents as Police Chief Richard Pennington, State Senator Paulette Irons, City Councilman Troy Carter and others. In the runoff with Pennington in May 2002, Nagin won with 59% of the vote. His campaign was largely self-financed.

Shortly after taking office, Nagin launched an anti-corruption campaign within city government, which included crackdowns on the city's Taxicab Bureau and Utilities Department. Nagin also made a controversial endorsement of current Republican U.S. Representative Bobby Jindal in the 2003 Louisiana Gubernatorial Runoff over current Democratic Governor Kathleen Blanco, and only reluctantly endorsed U.S. Senator John Kerry in the 2004 Presidential race.

Nagin received a B.S. degree in accounting from Tuskegee University in 1978 and an M.B.A. degree from Tulane University in 1994. He and his wife, Seletha Smith Nagin, have three children: Jeremy, Jarin, and Tianna.

for mayor...no wonder he's been fueling the flames between Blanco and Bush, always slyly implying SHE was holding everything up.

14. Got a link? Nagin knows about Bush - he tried desperately to get hiim
to send the promised but missing helicopters to mend the levee breach before New Orleans drowned. Could not even reach the bastard.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4523783
Helicopters, FEMA, NOBODY came. The city's drowning and all the deaths that resulted are on Bush and his criminal gang's hands, not that they give a flying damn as long as they can get away with it. (Much info throughout this thread.)

Bush already tried to blackmail Blanco into letting him have full martial law control. In exchange he would be willing to send in the delayed troops:

24. Nagin would eat a bus right now if it meant his people got the best
aid out of the feds. That is Nagin's job for now. Down the line, when the stuff is in place and the people have signed agreements and the feds are involved and cannot threaten to get out of it - then Nagin may talk or tell the truth.

But for now - he has to do what he has to do. The WH - filled with sociopaths - is the most aggressive kind of bully. They will force Nagin to kiss but over & over to protect themselves.

Nagin knows this. His job isn't to make himself look good. It is to get the best aid to his people as he can. Nagin may even start to believe the shit Bush makes him say.. after a while. Nagin's priorities are on his people. He is only being human. Bush is not.

31. Don't be so naieve...politicians of any stripe
only give a shit about their power. I don't buy any of this false pity. Nagin supported the repub against Blanco...that should explain it all to you. He won the runoff with majority white support...in my day they'd say..."he's with the man".

actually think they can make a difference in people's lives. Those would be the democrats and the rare republican.

and they're elected burocrats with too much power. Although I support the democratic platform, I'm under no delusions that most of them actually care....it just appeals to a specific voter group.
