A caller on last night's "Karel" show (KGO) put Bush & 9/11 in focus...
It was one of the last calls at the end of the show, and while Karel agreed with the woman who said this, I don't know if he fully caught how mind-numbingly ACCURATE her assessment was.

Political pundits my ASS. Ask the average man or woman on the street and you'll have your finger on the pulse of America.

Without the benefit of a transcript, this is my best recollection of what she said:

"Everyone is trying to make George Bush a hero for 9/11. He didn't DO anything! All he did was recite two speeches that he had WRITTEN FOR HIM! That's it! Rudy Guiliani and the rest tried to MAKE HIM A HERO, but he DIDN'T DO ANYTHING."

The people are catching on!

PS - I like to listen to Karel, too.

3. Pretty much sums it up.
I've had this conversation with my son, who lives in NYC and was there on 9/11. He finds all of the adulation of Bush's response somewhat bewildering. Of course he "stepped up to the plate" whatever that really means, but he really didn't do any more than anyone in his position would have. He really didn't have a choice because he was the fucking president. Anyone would have in his position.

Most everyone else would not have sat on their butt looking bewildered when our nation was under attack, but WTF. He did his photo ops after the fact, like a good boy.

If photo ops are what makes you a hero, we are in big trouble. And that is what Bush is doing now. Photo ops. Things is, now people pretty much see it for what it is - another staged event to make him look good.

I remember his photo op at the WTC. It was a good one. FOr what it was it had some power, but it was still just a photo op. We're past the point of that working anymore.

It took 4 years but a lot of Americans are very slow learners.

4. "He didn't do anything"
Indeed. He and his administration completely ignored Clinton's warnings about terror.

And the list goes on and on...
