If Impeachment Begins With the Judiciary Committee
then maybe we better start getting in touch with the republican members.

I just spent this entire weekend working on three "books" i put together for them--the "books" are printed articles from various websites--broken into three categories: bush (32 pages), fema/homeland security (72 pages), and general hurricane/flood/new orleans (70 pages). i xeroxed, i hole-punched, i high-lighted and circled bits and pieces, i collated 22 copies of these "books"

i'm going to write them a "cover" letter, appealing to their ... whatever, imploring them to begin drafting the articles of impeachment.

i started doing this in my sorrow and outrage over the lack of response to the flooding in new orleans.

and then i realized that because bush fucked up he really is losing his coattails that people are riding on. and maybe it's time some of these politicians start distancing themselves from him--and maybe someone has a fucking conscience!

the week before we had raised $450 for the red cross at a block party, i went out and bought $160 worth of items to donate to a shelter that was opening for the hurricane survivors, i donated some items and help load a semi that was going to beloxi. and it wasn't enough. hence---my last ditch attempt to effect some change.

(i've been so down--so incredibly depressed--like so many--i just don't know what the fuck to do anymore.....)

anyway--maybe some emails to the republicans on the judiciary could help too.

anybody know about any of these people? (i know hyde from il is a shit) but what about the rest of them?

coble, NC
smith, TX
gallegy, CA
goodlatte, VA
chabot, OH
lungren, CA
jenkins, TN
cannon, UT
bachus, AL
inglis, SC
hostettler, IN
green, WI
keller, FL
issa, CA
flake, AZ
pence, IN
forbes, VA
king, IA
feeney, FL
franks, AZ
gohmert, TX
(i'm not even counting sensenbrenner)

let me know if you're familiar with any of them--what they're like (i'm hoping there is something good about one or two of them)

1. I salute you
This looks like a great project. I wish one of the big bloggers would support something like this to get the momentum.

3. Sorry.....
to hear that you're depressed---me too--isn't everyone? Tuesday I called the eight House Reps from MN at their Washington offices and "downloaded" on the young sounding people who answered! I told them I am mad, embarrassed, etc. by * and the hurricane debaucle was the last straw. Also told them I want the pres impeached! That was the best day I've had all week!!! I also called Pelosi's office and laid on the praise! Called my two Senators too.

You know, don't you, that snail mail has to undergo "scrutiny" to make sure there isn't any anthrax or the bio weapon du jour involved? They say it greatly delays mail---sorry if this depresses you more.

Pence is a real Bushite!!

Good luck!

4. If you'll check the committee list
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 12:09 AM by ProudDad
There are 16 Dems and 22 repukes. You're going to have to get at least 4 repukes to carry the vote.

Before that, you're going to have to get sensenbrenner on board or the subject will NEVER come up before the committee...the Chairman ALWAYS decides what will come up for consideration.

I do know lungren (he's the ex-atty gen of CA who ran against feinstein) -- he's a right wing pig.

And Issa is the guy we have to thank for arnold the gropenfuhrer. It was Issa's money that bankrolled the Davis recall in California and bankrolled arnold the fascist pig's run for governor.

Don't expect any help from those slimeball, bastard, waste of skin fuckwads.

Spend your energy electing a Dem House next year. It's a waste of time and energy trying to get the repukes to act like human beings or patriots...

Think good thoughts about Chairman Conyers bringing up the subject in January of 2007...

5. Feeney allegedly commissioned vote-rigging software, per
Clint Curtis. Wouldn't count on him to do anything decent.

Are the two Texas Republicans or Dems? Texans aren't too happy about being inundated with all those displaced Louisianans.
Might be able to convince them to boot Bush out.

If the new hurricane forming up hits the Carolinas and FEMA screws up again, you might revisit the 2 from North and South Carolina.

6. unless you're in the rep's district anything you send will fall
pretty much on deaf ears (or at least a staffer's ears). Any member of Congress can introduce articles of impeachment. It does not have to be judiciary.

Plus the Repub chair will NEVER schedule hearings on an impeachment resolution. Any member of the Repubs who crosses over can be removed from the committee too by the Republican caucus and replaced with a more loyal trooper. Most of these Repubs are wingers anyway. Sorry.

8. committee rules favor control over governance
Seems like a change in rules that allows a respectful platform for the opposition would only enhance our democratic process. Like how about even 15 minutes, out of respect. sheesh even the french said once "we are all Americans".
