Think 'Blame Clinton' is old after 5 years?
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 12:04 PM by Richardo
Aside from the fact that there's really nothing to blame him for, the mantra of the right will apply for decades against Bush.

The next administrations, Democratic and even Republican, will be spending years undoing the mismanagement of every segment of the federal government.

And the Freeps will be calling sour grapes and telling America to 'get over it' just seconds after the Great Idiot leaves on January 20, 2009.

3. they're still blaming him
I saw an op-ed from some RWer last week that spewed lies about Operation Able Danger, neglecting to mention that it was neo-con higher ups in the bureaucracy that blocked Able Danger.

4. I think 'Blame Clinton' will be *really* old 5 years from NOW
The right-wingnuts will still be ignoring Bush's near-superhuman incompetence and blaming the Mighty Clenis for everything that's gone wrong, ever.

5. Blaming Clinton, even where there is blame to place, is no longer valid
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 12:40 PM by Jack Rabbit
Clinton was not one of our truly great presidents, but that's a long ways from saying that he was an utter failure. One could point to the fact that he did little or nothing to prepare for peak oil or that the levees around New Orleans weren't repaired while he was in office. I've heard right wing partisans scream that the September 11 attacks were Clinton's fault because he "let" Osama get away on more than one occasion.

That doesn't change the fact that Clinton left office five years ago. For five years, Bush has failed to development of alternate energy that would ease US dependence of fossil fuels and the upward pressure on energy prices. For five years, Bush has been more concerned about giving the federal budget surplus to his corporate cronies than with funding infrastructure maintenance. Finally, even if Clinton failed to get Osama, it doesn't change the fact that, while Clinton at least went after him, it wasn't even a priority with Bush until after September 11; we can't even be sure it's a priority with Bush now.

Clinton's record as president is a red herring. Bush is a disaster and bears responsibility for what has happened on his watch.
