What are the usual conseqences for lying when applying for a Federal job? It seems that for a high-ranking national security position like that, they would do a little check of the information. Who is in charge of the background check.

And most of all, WHY is this guy still working at FEMA after being busted for the fraudulent resume'?

1. Background checks mean nothing to folks who vouch for friends

Remember that in the Federal Bureaucracy political appointments aren't made based on what a person knows but on who that person blows.

What is somewhat surprising is that a position such as Director of FEMA would be a patronage job. I can accept Colin's son getting a high job in the FCC...the FCC rarely kills anyone by bad license assignments.

But FEMA? What were they thinking? Were they thinking?
