Poll question: Binary Poll - Our Biggest Problem
There are but two problems - both huge. Which is the biggest, in your opinion.

1. I had to go media. Lack of awareness is our biggest issue.
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 06:42 PM by BlueIris
People don't care. Not because information isn't available, but because it isn't available on their t.v. screens.

3. Black Box Voting.

Part of what allows Republican-supporting individuals to steal elections.

5. It is a close call, they are interrelated,
but I voted for the media. I think Thomas Jefferson said something to the effect that liberty would be assured by the combination of (universal manhood) suffrage and a free press.

Presumably he excluded a bought and paid for press, and rigged electronic voting from his considerations. Still, the combination is more important than either by itself--and both are essential.

6. That's a toughie...goin with media...because the only reason BBV exists
is because the media hasn't exposed it. Fix it and expose EVERYTHING the GOP has been criminally involved.

7. Tough, but really a no-brainer.
Without EVM with no paper trail, the Republicans can't win. Period.
Then we'll fix the media.

8. The chicken or egg thing
I voted for election reform since that is till imaginably doable with enormous public action while the media is a bloated punching back we can't focus people because- the media controls the rallying forums. It is its own chicken or egg spin problem whereas the legal and active street juice on a local level and as a people movement gets results.

One may argue this is not a perfect argument but think IMHO that there is more being done and more on the money for local election protection than can be done hurling stones at the media Goliath. You can hurt them but you can't reform them.

On the other hand everything is currently ineffectual compared to what is needed.

9. Our biggest problem is the DLC weakening our party
2) is electro-fraud voting
3) is the Whore of Babylon corporate media

10. I think the media's key to everything else ... including BBV
If an honest media were reporting honest news honestly, BBV would be seen clearly and widely as the issue we here all know it is.

Without that media, BBV is an arcane issue that only we here know about.

11. I went with the crooked machines... because
I truly believe in the good sense of the American people, and that the whole "not all of the people all of the time" thing is true.

12. Third Choice: Voters don't know what Democrats stand for.
Do we stand for fixing the voting machines? Do we stand for the opposite of Bush?

No. We actually stand FOR something, but I don't think enough voters know what those things are.

13. And would not the media issue be a part of this problem?
True enough, our message is, at best, squishy when articulated by some, but would not an honest media allow our ideas to come forward?

Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 05:44 PM by 1932
and I'll show you a Democrat who is outperforming expectations despite the crappy media.

Sadly, there aren't enough doing that because there aren't enough with good messages.

Which Democrats do you think have good, progressive messages based on good progressive values who the media are avoiding?

15. It's the media, stupid!
We get the spin and the PR, i.e., lies and misconceptions.

Give us the real news, and we'll have a real election!

I can't answer this poll. Somehow, the two have to happen together, or as consequences of some other cause.

19. As I post this, the vote is 28 to Media and 20 to to BBV
And as I posted above, I see the media being the bigger issue.

But ......

As I have asked many times of those who see BBV as the bigger issue, I now ask anyone who voted here for the media ...... how would you see the issue being addressed?
