A Sense of Relaxation

Today we learned of Michael Brown's resignation from FEMA. The President learned this too. From a reporter at a press event. video

While it is clearly time for change at FEMA, it is nonetheless alarming that Bush is unaware of who is running the agency. Moreover, there is much concern that far too many of the remaining senior staff, have little or no experience in emergency management. Today, the President admitted to feeling a "sense of relaxation" after the storm had passed through the gulf coast area citing his belief at the time that those in the affected areas had dodged a bullet. As Nico points out at Think Progress, this sense of calm clearly occurred after the breach of the levees in New Orleans. Lamentably, it seems that the President is still detached from events that require immediate attention. An independent commission is clearly the only way we'll get to the bottom of the failures of the federal relief efforts.

:wtf:
"I was working and wasn't aware Brown had resigned, maybe you people know something I don't know?"

Hey, John C...Bush wasn't unaware re: Brown. HE LIED. AGAIN.
He cannot tell the truth. He is incapable of it. The man is a pathological liar with a gross narcissistic personality disorder. And he's stupid as a bag of dog turds, to boot.

1. I agree that it was important that he go. That as long as reckless incom-
pittance is out of the way - it is easier to stand down and let the experts do their job in helping & healing.

I wonder if the stuff about the resume had never come out if Bush would have kept him on? Was this weekend that Bush decided Brown had to go.

2. It's not enough that Brown resigned he should be charged with
criminal behavior. Plus, as you say, there are still too many of Bush's buddies on the payroll in FEMA that aren't qualified.

4. Why has * appeared to be so relaxed lately?
Could it be he had a fine 5 weeks off at his ranch and in Idaho, or could it be the meds?
