Roberts confirmation: Quote of the Day
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 04:23 PM by I Have A Dream
At one point during John Roberts' confirmation hearing today, Sen. Joe Biden interrupted Roberts when he thought the nominee's answers to his questions were "misleading." Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter cut Biden off. "Now, wait a minute, wait a minute," Specter said. "They may be misleading, but they are his answers."

I can't even imagine a Democrat getting away with saying this to a Republican in a similar situation.

1. Roberts went on ...
Roberts went on to clarify that he felt his answers are not infact misleading. :-) I thought that was pretty humorous.

2. My favorite was Biden saying to Roberts
when told by Specter to "let him answer" ... "Go ahead and continue to NOT answer the question."

5. Another Bread & Circus...
...another dog and pony show.

This whole thing is a foregone conclusion. Everyone knows that Democrats and Republicans are putting on theater to make it appear as if they're doing their jobs. But there has never been any doubt that Roberts will get this lifetime appointment.

6. LOL I heard that at work on AAR RR and LOL
I heard it a bit different--

"They may be misleading, but they are HIS answers."

The Bushites have this nonsensespeak down to such a fine science. His "demeanor" was praised by someone on the NewsHour who acknowledged he is a personal friend of JR...

His demeanor is smarmy and condescending. The contact lenses are about to pop off his giant lizard eyes. V!
