8. The "War Resolution?" That is a right-wing misnomer-

an example of how the right has framed the resolution as either a vote for war or a vote against it. The resolution was more correctly to be viewed as a "put pressure on Iraq" resolution. Many of the Dems who voted for the resolution wanted to put pressure on Iraq to allow inspectors to return to check things out. War was meant to be a last resort- the threat of military reprisal was meant to signal that we meant business. Only Bush and his right-wing junta wanted to go to war (okay, maybe Joe Lieberman too).

The Democratic Party stands for nuanced and pragmatic positions, not ideology. We're not ivory tower, we just do what works to help people out, get them jobs, education, etc. We don't promise them irresponsible tax cuts in the hopes that they'll vote for us, and we don't run up huge deficits. We don't use race or sexuality to divide, and we don't pander to the ultra-conservative Christian right.

i've heard some say that the US deserves what they get and it is going to be a world of hurt. I do not know whether the battle cry of ABB will be enough to demand allegiance from those who see Kerry as selling out to Bush on most everything that mattered in the past 3 years. It really compromises Kerry's ability to challenge Bush---yeah, that really makes him so much more electible.
