1. Sure, because Bush just turned into a Liberal
Tucker is a Libertarian, and Scarbourough hasn't drank the koolade for two weeks now. If there's anything he knows, it's hurricanes. He used to be a congressman in the middle of hurricane central.

5. How could his survival mode and Matthews survival mode
be so damned different. Tweety has ahold of Bush's cheeks so hard it's a wonder if he could go and take that bathroom break.

18. You just reminded me of Bush and his talk during 2000 about emergencies
He said a lot about how "that's what governors do" and their goal was to claim that Gore "lied" about emergency management experience.
In fact, Gore had visited so many emergency sites that he mixed up which plane he was on at which time.

We (some researcher better than me) need to look this stuff up to point out how Bush claimed he knew how to manage disasters when he didn't. I bet it's on video.

Also, Al Gore should have been conducting a shadow presidency for the past five years - in order to show how wrong Bush is - and to continually challenge his legitimacy.

I'm dissappointed that the Dem Party hasn't gone further on this sort of thing. They are so reactionary - quite frustrating to feel like we are yelling and no one listening. The only thing good that has happened with the Dems lately is the blog/forum networks.

23. The nightowl reports...here ya go. ;)
MODERATOR: New question. We've been talking about a lot of specific issues. It's often said that in the final analysis about 90% of being the President of the United States is dealing with the unexpected, not with issues that came up in the campaign. Vice President Gore, can you point to a decision, an action you have taken, that illustrates your ability to handle the unexpected, the crisis under fire?

<snip> (Gore's response)

BUSH: You know, as governor, one of the things you have to deal with is catastrophe. I can remember the fires that swept Parker County, Texas. I remember the floods that swept our state. I remember going down to Del Rio, Texas. I have to pay the administration a compliment. James Lee Witt of FEMA has done a really good job of working with governors during times of crisis. But that's the time when you're tested not only -- it's the time to test your metal, a time to test your heart when you see people whose lives have been turned upside down. It broke my heart to go to the flood scene in Del Rio where a fellow and his family got completely uprooted. The only thing I knew was to got aid as quickly as possible with state and federal help, and to put my arms around the man and his family and cry with them. That's what governors do. They are often on the front line of catastrophic situations.

6. Do you think he was a conservative
before he was hyjacked by the neocons in his administration? Or do you think he really always was one of them.

I thought with 9/11 he turned to the neocons, and only then became one.

But yeah, neocons are NOT fiscal conservatives.

7. Did you hear Joe comment on the Governor and mayor?
Scarborough said "He wants to put Blanco and Nagin in charge of $200 billion to rebuild?!? I wouldn't put them in charge of sorting my sock drawer"

I wasn't sure whether to laugh or scream at him..

16. He bitches about the Mississippi and Louisiana Governors so he
doesn't limit his snark to the Dems.

He also emphasizes that FEMA knew what it was doing during the Clinton Administration with James Lee Witt and that Lawton Chiles (D) and Jeb both knew how to deal with a hurricane. He has been very nonpartisan in his criticism and praise since this happened.

It has been surprising but very nice. Frankly, it gives him more credibility plus he has lived through them and he and his wife have been taking a lot of relief supplies to people in Mississippi who no one else is helping.

22. I was surprised when he was on Maher
I saw him on Maher last week and he was talking about the guy Clinton hired to FEMA and told how that guy had a lot of experience and praised him a lot and praised Clinton too. I thought I was going to fall out of my chair! And nice of him and his wife. Good for him! That's the first I've heard of him and her doing that.

14. Really?
I didn't think he was in charge of the building effort.. just the public relations issues during the building.

Dayum.. BAD choice if he's in charge of the actual rebuilding

8. Well at least they are consistent
assholes. Did I tell you how much I despise bowtie man? Anyhoo-truly they both hate PEOPLE. This speech sounded like Bush liked people-as I said I may never recover from the words "habitat for humanity" coming from the stinkclown's (my new word for Bush-just popped in there) mouth. Jimmy Carter has more humanity in his left pinky than Bush does in his entire body and extended family.

Apparently Bush will do anything for a poll rating-legacy-oh shudder-to get his ss plunder through-oh shudder again-another war--oh to shore up the neo-con's because he was fucking it all up for them-oh damn I've depressed myself again.
