4. Some of the people Rita had come on are very visible in the New Orleans
area. They are almost to a man saying that the contracts are not going to local companies. I think one person said one contract has gone to a local company.

7. Not to rain on the parade, but he said Mississippi (electricity)
Unless I'm mistaken, the moron DID say Mississippi had regained close to 100% of their electrical power.

The rest of the speech was pure garbage, empty promises, and faith-based idiocy at its worst.

14. That's because churches have the most
effective charity networks in that area. Not all churches are fundamentalist. Some of the most effective charities are managed very effectively and are generous to all without discrimination. Some I am familiar with are Quakers (American Friends Society), to Catholics (Catholic Charities) to Methodists (United Methodists), Presbyterians, United Church of Christ, some of the Lutheran Synods, the Episcopal Church and, my own, Unitarian Universalist church. There are many more that are really dedicated to helping people and not to Pat Robertson type scams. They are very effective. I recommend giving to them before the Red Cross.

15. Churches in the region were swamped -
- and I would think that many had to dip into other than their normal charity and mission funds to support the quantity of people that they were helping.

Remember that church's have payroll expenses and mortgage, electric, water, sewer bills to meet. I have no problem reimbursing churches when they had to dip into operating funds to help the huge number of people at their doorsteps.

I thought he said that the contracts were made two days before the hurricane hit. All from companies outside the state.

17. (IMHO)Haliburton and KBR will be general contractors......and "may" hire
local sub contractors......who may or may not hire local workers at below the standard gov. required wage.

No matter, Haliburton and KBR are, and will continue to be the winners in the snatch and grab looting game.

Shrub always covers his ass with some sliver of truth. Watch what he does....disregard what he says.
