OMG! Chambliss quotes Biden on John Roberts!
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 08:14 AM by rateyes
I was listening to a local radio station in my car while traveling in Middle Georgia today and heard Sen. Saxby Chamblis (R) from Georgia answering a question about John Roberts. Chambliss said that he thinks he'll do a good job, etc.--but, then added:

"Joe Biden, who has been critical in public of John Roberts, said to me privately yesterday, 'Saxby, this guy is good. Roberts might be the best justice we've seen on the Supreme Court.'"

The above isn't an exact quote, but pretty damned close, and conveys the gist of what was said on the radio--WMAZ, Macon, GA

So, does this mean that Roberts is less conservative than we think, or that Biden really is a DINO?

on edit: Or, is Saxby Chambliss lying?

1. Biden is a DLC repuke wanna be
He just likes to pretend he is a Democrat in public. That comment from him is not surprising in the least.

4. Yeah, in public he sounds like "I'm gonna tell it like it is."
In private, sounds like somebody else. I'm gonna pay close attention to what he says on the Senate floor about Roberts.

15. Biden has a pattern
and it has been the same bullshit pattern for at least the last four years. Sadly, I have watched his act for way too long to expect anything better than what was recounted by chamblis. :(

27. Because when a snake bites you.....
... it is expected, but when a puppy bites you it is a surprise.

Time to realize that a lot of folks who are supposed to be puppies are actually snakes.

2. It means Chambliss is a liar.
Now why didn't you even consider that possibility in your OP?

7. I'll go back and edit my post to include that possibility. Thanks.
I can't stand Suxby...but, it wouldn't surprise me if Biden really did say it.

11. I considered it....but, to tell you the truth...
Biden has disappointed me in a lot of ways. He's got a lot of bark, but very little bite, IMHO. I cannot stand Suxby or Johnny Isaacson, or our Repig governor, or our DINO, jerk Zell Miller. And, most of the Democratic Reps in Congress from GA, with a few notable exceptions are DINOS...

So, it was more of an oversight that it wasn't included, and the fact that I'm sick of DINOS.

16. I didn't blame the Democrat first...
I was mainly asking what this said about Roberts. I'm so liberal I probably make you look like Chambliss. Why are you afraid to question Biden, though? We can't be the least critical of a Democrat who often seems to be working against Democratic ideals, is that it? Gotta go along to get along?

17. The man who destroyed war hero Max Cleland makes a comment about a Dem...
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 08:36 AM by ClassWarrior
...and the first thing you do is question the Dem. That's sad.

OF COURSE we should question Biden. But wouldn't you rather question Biden's OWN words than what a proven liar and Republicon (redundant) CLAIMS are Biden's words?

23. Welcome to DU!
And, I agree. And, to everyone who is upset that I forgot to add the third option before being reminded to do so, I apologize. When the Democratic Party of GA called me asked me for another donation, I told them, I'll donate when I'm sure that the GA Democratic party is the party of Max Cleland and Jimmy Carter, and not the party of Zell Miller. A lot of the Dems who won in the state and got Dem money for their campaigns switched parties after being sworn into office. It makes me want to puke. I WON'T support Republican-lite....it hurts our party and hurts the Democratic agenda.

9. ROFL...
I would LOVE to see that. It would be great to be pleasantly surprised to learn that Roberts is more of a Souter than a Scalia...that would SINK the Republican party.

be giving the quote in the context in which it was given, or Chambliss is less than honest in his recollection or ...

All of the above (?)

6. Probably a little of both.
It would not be the first evidence we've seen that he might not be very conservative. Many hardcore Republicans fear that he will turn out to be Souter part 2.

Then again, Joe Biden's IQ and shoe size are equal.

But quite frankly, I do not trust that piece of shit Chambliss at all. That motherfucker painted a man who lost three limbs for our country as a traitor. So you must take his words with a whole bag of salt.

Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 08:37 AM by CottonBear
I will never, EVER forgive him and the Republican party for how they smeared Max Cleland.

It is quite possible that Chambliss lied. What Biden is purported to have said might be true too. I'll put my bets on Chambliss lying. He has no morals.
:grr:

14. Yeah, I hope that Max either runs against Suxby again,
or is perhaps on the 2008 ticket, probably as a VP candidate. That would be SWEEEET. I don't trust SUXby Chambliss, but to be honest with you, I am a little leery of Biden, too. I would love to hear Boxer question Roberts. That would have been a sight to see.

20. I'm with you...
what he did to Max Cleland is unforgiveable. But, what Saxby said on the radio about Biden is could be easily checked if someone was able to ask Biden about it. I HOPE he didn't say it, and I wouldn't put it past Suxby to be lying--he certainly smeared Max as unpatriotic, a man whose limbs were blown off in Vietnam, a war Suxby didn't fight in because of a "bad knee" that seems to be fine to everyone else. SUXby is a low-life.
