What every insider Dem consultant should be telling media big shots...
What completely baffles me is how Dems fail at media manipulation while the Rethugs are so successful. They should pick a few topics and hammer the media in waves and stick to the message. And when appearing somewhere, use the old debating trick of using three fourths of the time to get across the needed message and then just a few seconds to the inane questions asked by the media interviewer.

But here is the message that Dem insiders should be pointing out to all the media bigshots - the way it looks now, Bush might have a good chance of pulling his party out of power in 2006 and if the media people want high profile Dems on their shows after this happens, then they better start being more fair and start asking the right questions. NOW.

It's like the Dems are afraid to play hard, hardball.

But like I said in a past posting - the Dems appear to be sitting on a huge pile of ammo and without someone with good aim to fire it....

1. It's not just Dems, it's left leaning journos and reporters.

Face it, one on one Kerry kicked Bush's ass. But, when it came to the everyday news shows, the left leaning journos got their asses kicked by the RW media who stay on message no matter what. And when it comes to the analysis exercise, its the journos and pundits who get the most airtime.

Left leaning journos disdain "message" politics and generally refuse to stay on the same page. They prefer their own original think and have no discipline for a sonsistent message.

They also bend over backwards to show balance while the RW will stay on message with a LIE without budging an inch.

I respect their choice as individuals, but, can't deny the outcome of how it effects the overall Dem message.

2. The Repugs are successful spinners because they own the ballpark,
the home team, and most of the umpires.

You think the GOP get their message across because they have smarter consultants?

You think the major media are going to change if Dems threaten them with loss of access, when, and if we're back in power?

We're still playing baseball. They're at war, really.

4. I have to respectfully disagree
on this. The repukes have been successful for decades now, even when they had no contol of the WH or congress. That's what made the word liberal a near curse word, that's what got us their version of so called free trade, that's what help break the backs of the unions (though they did a lot to themselves too), that's what made people think taxes were bad for the wealthy and the list goes on and on. They got their message out because they stuck together, they didn't criticize each other and they weren't afraid of being called names. Our dems run and hide at being called a liberal instead of standing up for it, they aim right at each other and they have no coherent message. It is the media too but the dems need to play it right and they refuse.

3. One Message The Dems Should Hammer Is......
the 'balance of power'. The Executive, the legislative and soon the judicial branch of our government will be run by Repugs and Conservatives. If the shoe were on the other foot you can bet your boots that the Repugs would be all over that. We need to regain the House and Senate to even things out again. If we don't - who knows the damage these people will do.
