PETA to run full-page ad in tomorrow's WP: "Betrayed by our Government"
Quote from ad;

"In these United States, we can do better for our citizens and their animals."

Bash PETA if you must, but this ad rocks.

4. I like it
The developmental material is great. The summary, where they should be "going for the kill" (oops, sorry, vegetarians) with Dr. Garfield was just a little bit weak. On the balance, though,

5. Good for PETA
I love PETA and they say the hard things that need to be said and do the hard things.

It is long past time that animals (our companion friends) be recognized as parts of our families - of course in Europe, that has been long recognized as pets go into restaurants with their owners

when is this backward nation going to give our pets the recognition and protection they so dearly deserve

6. I am normally no fan of PETA's, but I surely applaud this ad!
The malicious violation of FEMA pet-protection policies and the compulsory abandonment of pets is but another example of Bush's methodical savagery toward African Americans and the poor.

When I saw on the news that people were evacuated but forced to leave their pets, even a little poodle on the side of the road, I about lost it.

When everything else was gone, and they managed to save their animal friends, they then had to abandon them? Not just cruel to the animals, impossibly cruel, but horrific to the people as well.

Can you imagine? Getting through it all with your cat or dog, waiting days in that hell to get out, walking who knows how far to get to a bus..then to have them tell you, you can't bring your pet with you on the bus out of town?

And what kind of sense did it make??? These people went through hell, talk about stress, and what helps with stress more than our pets?????? They love us, they help us, EVERY study says so. Our pets help with high blood pressure, nerves, they do nothing but help...

and who needed that help more than the victims of that hurricane???????????????????????????????????????????????

Aren't those issues the VERY issues we're worried about, after the physical needs are met??

Cruel. Senseless. Stupid. Way fucking stupid. What, are pets replaceable objects? Only to someone that never had one. All tolled, insane. By the legal definition; the inability to tell right from wrong, unable to judge fairly the rightness of one's actions. Insane.

THAT is our government.

Made me cry. Still makes me cry. And more angry. It was a sick, sick decision made by I don't care who...it was wrong, and they got away with it. Those people had no choice. There was nothing they could do.

Casual cruelty, after watching what they allowed happen to people, this was a drop in the bucket in their eyes, I'm sure. But I will NEVER EVER forget it. Good for PETA for going after them. I hope they leave a mark.

Ater my tirade...forgot to say thanks for sharing the ad *sigh*

8. Good for them!
Both my partner and I are members. We have two daring Pekingese; Princess and Lady Emma. We were very distressed over the plight of animals in New Orleans. More power to them!

11. Good Ad... Too Bad About PETA's Reputation
The fact that PETA's name is associated with this effort is likely to make people look the other way and not care about this problem as much as they ought to.

12. Galveston has learned this lesson today and evacuating pets and
their companion people. In prep for hurricane Rita.

They would have to pry my furry best friends from their cold, dead...etc. etc.

Just one more reason why Brownietheturd will roast in hell.
