In his first "Meet the Press" appearance since leaving office, former

President William Jefferson Clinton will appear on this Sunday's edition of "Meet the Press with Tim Russert." The interview will originate from the site of Clinton's Global Initiative summit, where he has assembled heads of state and business leaders to discuss solutions to some of the world's toughest problems: poverty, religious conflict, the environment and more. President Clinton will also speak about Hurricane Katrina and the fundraising effort he is heading up with former President George H.W. Bush.

We'll also get the very latest on the relief and recovery in the Gulf Coast with the man in charge of the federal operations -- Coast Guard Vice Admiral Thad Allen.

Then our roundtable tackles the politics of Hurricane Katrina, the increasing deficit, the war in Iraq, and the Roberts nomination as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Insights and analysis from Gwen Ifill, moderator of PBS's Washington Week; Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post; Judy Woodruff, longtime political reporter; and Byron York of the National Review.

5. I understand he ripped Bush for not rescinding the tax cuts

to pay for Katrina and the Iraq War on the Today show today. I heard Ed Schultz play a clip.

to hear one word of praise for BUSH!

7. Don't expect a lot of Bush whacking

He has always hesitated to do that in talk show appearances. Particularly in this case, he's been out front saying Bush did all he could do, and now he's spearheading the charity effort with Bush Sr....

He's not going to have much to say about how screwed up things are, and if he does, there will be some wiggle room to explain how Bush is not to blame.

I like Clinton but I don't get the history of him throwing softballs (at best) toward the current administration.

10. My take on Clinton,

Clinton exhibits the classic signs of an ACA (adult child of an alchoholic) they are pleasers, they cannot stand conflict.

Also, the Bush family did not criticize him during impeachment. I also, think it shows that he is smart enough to know that at some point, we need to start coming together because of the huge division Bush has caused.

Won't be much criticism of Bushco and Clinton won't be any help at all.

why don't they get people from liberal magazines? they always have Kate O'Berne and Byron York on these stupid roundtables and allow them to hijack the discussion.

11. Thanks for the info.

I still adore Clinton and I always will. He maintained his dignity throughout that whole impeachment ordeal in spite of the horrendous battering he got from the Republicans, the media and that awful sex-obsessed Ken Starr.

He's trying to be a statesman now and is trying not to appear overty partisan because of his fund-raising activities for AIDS, his global initiatives and other causes. He doesn't want news to be about "him" but about the good he is trying to do for others.
