Question about Roberts dodging questions
Here's something I've never understood, maybe you can help. I haven't seen this discussed before. If it has, please point me to that thread, thanks!

John Roberts keeps dodging questions about his stances on issues, etc., claiming that to express his opinion somehow obligates him to rule in a particular way on potential future cases involving those issues. And a lot of folks nod their heads and say that's wise. A few folks (like Biden) complain that his silence makes the hearings effectively useless, and they're right, for what it's worth.

But none of them seem to realize the (to me) obvious implication. If Roberts' opinions that he expresses today are those that he will use to decide future cases, then what Roberts is saying is that he will hold to his original opinions regardless of any evidence or arguments presented before his court. In other words, he's publicly admitting that he's totally unfit to be a judge, much less sit on the Supreme Court, not to mention sitting as its Chief Justice.

Am I wrong on this point? And if not, why isn't everyone screaming about this? Not just that Roberts would be so damaging to the country as a Supreme Court justice, I think we pretty much all see that. But he's effectively pre-judged any case that would come before him!
