Supreme Court possibility list from Newsmeat
So I was aimlessly searching around at http://www.newsmeat.com/ just a few moments ago, I know their articles are quite suspect in nature...I was looking at the campaign contributions. Anyway, you know how they have the list of the most popular search names and then different breakdowns and categories? Well, I happened to notice that the list of most often searched for names included ten possible Supreme Court Justices. I thought I'd post it here and see what my fellow dear DUers think of the list. I'm not sure who some of the people are so I'd appreciate any input. As of right now, I'll just say that they're most likely all conservatives that I'd really regret having on SCOTUS but there is one name I think may be most scary. ORRIN HATCH!!! Who knows what he'd do with that much power?!!!:nuke::nuke:

Here's the list...

Edith Brown Clement
J Michael Luttig
Alex Kozinski
Edith H Jones
Emilio Garza
Ted Olson
Alberto Gonzales
John Cornyn
John G Roberts
Orrin Hatch

1. The name that scares me the most is ASHCROFT.
Heard his name kicked around right after O'Connor went. Now THAT is scary.

5. If he wants to raise his poll numbers, he'll choose Clement.
If not, it'll be Gonzales or AssKKKroft or one of the nutcases.

7. Clement is the safe
Choice, the choice that probably avoids the fight. Apparently torture czar is actually quite moderate os civil rights and women's rights issues, I know a lot of Democrats were hoping he'd be the first choice instead of Roberts. If chooses Ashcroft then we've got a huge fight brewing. The filibuster will be discussed the nuclear option will be again discussed and things will get very ugly.

8. Thing about picking torture czar is it means *another* decision...
because then he has to pick a replacement for A.G. If he really wants to a avoid a fight, he won't open himself to the possibility of another high-profile controversy.

I feel fairly certain it won't be Ashcroft. Ashcroft didn't leave after term one because Bush loved him so much, I think.

I hope it's the moderate Edith, Clement, I guess it is. The other Edith is apparently a raving rightwing whackjob.
