Karl Rove, President Bush's top political advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff, spoke at businessman Teddy Forstmann's annual off the record gathering in Aspen, Colorado this weekend. Here is what Rove had to say that the press wasn't allowed to report on.

Cindy Sheehan has been crucial in helping to turn the tide of U.S. opinion against the Iraq war. She is no clown; she's some kind of Ghandi.

I'm not the biggest expert on her, but I did visit Camp Casey in Crawford twice and got to observe her close-up the first time.

It's clear that even despite RW control of the media, the majority in the U.S. are yearning for good leaders to come forward and make a stand, to serve as a rallying point. Cindi exudes the kind of intelligence, common sense, generosity of spirit, and commitment that's necessary.

Unfortunately, very few besides Cindy are making that kind of stand, esp. very few Dem pols, most of whom seem to agree with Karl. WHY IS THAT???

I have to say, I was disappointed and deeply puzzled that more people with recognized leadership or celebrity did not come to Camp Casey.
