Roberts predicition ... and a bet
I'm takin' bets on this .......

In committee, all Repubs will vote yes, all Dems will vote no.

In the full Senate, some who voted no in commitee will switch and vote yes. I'll take bets on that.

While I won't take bets on this, I think it is possible all will switch and vote yes.

Wanna bet?

7. Now Specter, seeing how easily Roberts went over, is gunning for another
extremist for the other vacancy, since he knows the "opposition" won't make a peep. We're fucked with these Vichy Dems in the beltway running things.

8. Just a guess, but ...
I think Roberts will sail through committee--just two or three Dems. voting no. And he'll sail through the Senate too, with only 8 or 9 Dems. voting no. Everything I've seen and heard says that Roberts fared well in the confirmation hearing. Note that discussion has already turned to filling the other slot, and Dems. are positioning themselves against the more firebrand conservatives on *'s short list. They wouldn't bother if they planned to fight Roberts. No, I'm afraid that we're going to be stuck with Mr. Roberts for many, many years. The Dems. seem inclined to let Roberts slide and fight then on the next one, instead.
