here's another great Seattle LTTE:
keep hearing that same new line asking "How come we could have helicopters and aircraft putting food and water into the tsunami areas within 24 hours, but we couldn't get anything into New Orleans for three days?"
And I started wondering if it could be because the United States had no contingency plan to attack New Orleans.
As I hear it, and I'm sure you've heard the same from your Cold War-era parents or from watching "Three Days of the Condor" (boy, is that movie starting to come true), we have on the books at least a good general plan for entry and Command & Control setups for every country on Earth, just in case.
In times of need, the general steps and best locations in those plans can be adapted and put into effect.
I think it would benefit us in the Northwest to get ourselves all set for Mount Rainier blowing up by declaring war on the rest of the country. Just for a few weeks, to get them making their attack plans; then we can surrender and know we'll be taken care of quickly.
