Republicans worry about reelection as voters get testy.........

When Mark Foley pumps $3.29-a-gallon gasoline these days, he sees the irritation that is building among voters, and he is worried.

"People are ripping mad," said the six-term Republican congressman from Jupiter. "People want someone to blame."

And that someone, Foley is warning his GOP colleagues, is likely to be the Republican Party in next year's elections.

the fact that voters historically have short memories. If it were 2006 I'd be more optimistic about making inroads in the House and Senate. But 11/06 is still light years away in terms of voter attention span.

People tend to remember how broke they are on a daily basis, and it will only be worse in 2006.

2. The GOP should be worried

Watch how many of them jump off the bushco bandwagon between now and next November. If, and when they do, we have to be ready to pounce. We have to point out their failings and their previous alliance to the bush "administration" in the name of party loyalty.

and move to acquire more power.

It's never over, one way or another, that's why IMO we need to be very selective about which dichotomies we engage in. False dichotomies are nothing but chasing your own tail. Other extreme phenomena are empirical facts. It's important to keep the two separate during the next big power-grab coming out of the evangel-cartels and their masters multinational corporations like Halliburton, Brown and Root, and Bechtel, the Carlyle Group, and Mammon.
