Why do people on the LEFT think Hillary is running for President?
"She's running" "she might run" "just pandering for 2008" "Just waiting for the primaries."

SHUT UP ALREADY ABOUT HILLARY!!!!!

She has made no indication of whether or not she will run in 2008. All the articles mentioning the race are Republican tabloids like the New York Post or the Washington Times. Also, while I am not too happy about her not criticizing Bush enough on the Iraq, she has done a good job as Senator (I'm from New York and I live in Westchester County, north of Chappaqua.) While she needs to be pressured by bloggers into speaking out on the conflict, she is doing a good job of tearing Bush a new one of the issue of Katrina and a commission (she was one of the first to come out for one.) Also, and this is for new Yorkers. Would you rather have someone who is at least 60% Dem, as opposed to Jeanine Pirro or John Spencer or Nixon's son in low Ed Cox? Each of them will be Bushbots and help the Republicans in the Senate. Want a vote against Social Security Privatization or against whoever will replace Stevens or Ginsburg in the SCOTUS (the two next to go based on health.) You won't find it with any of Hillary's potential adversaries!

11. I don't think that.
she does seem to be posturing, but I don't care. i won't vote for her unless i absolutely have to. I'm sure that's why the right keep perpetuating this crap.

2. Nobody on the Left thinks Hillary is running, or wants her to
It's completely a DLC construction.

3. I believe it's because she is doing all the things to assume that posture
Taking a leadership role in the DLC is a pretty good example of that

5. Maybe she is genuinely a DLCer
Maybe, and unfortunately, she believes that the platform of their group is best for Democratic candidates

10. I don't doubt that for a second!
Which is why I wouldn't support her candidacy.

12. She is a DLC "Leader", currently...

And, she has been "running" for awhile. Last year family members went to an AAR live show in Boston. Last year. And, they told me "The Friends of Hillary" were there and (already) passing out HILLARY '08 literature and taking donations for her run. Would they be doing that if she were not running? I think not.

7. Seems to me that people on the Right...
are the ones who keep talking her up as the nominee, 'cause that's what they want. They think she would galvanize the extreme right becasue they have such a visceral hate for her.

8. I don't know if she is or isn't, and don't really care.
She has the right to run if she wants to, but if she does I'm going to work against her in every way I possibly can. If she runs and becomes the nominee I'll either stay home or vote 3rd party. I hate her and her families guts. They aren't true Democrats, and they wouldn't know what democratic values were if they slapped them in the face.

They only want to poison the Democratic Party and turn it into an elitist Corporate, Republican-Lite Shill Party. Hillary (more like "Shillary") and her Husband are nothing but shills and sell-outs.

9. The Clinton's have done more good than bad
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 03:18 PM by Ignacio Upton
However, I try to stay impartial in regards to Bill's legacy.

Pros: Fiscally reponsible, knew right time to use force in Bosnia and Kosovo. President during longest period of growth in history.

Cons: NAFTA, welfare reform, Assaut Weapons Ban, letting the grassroots of the party whither on the vine (the Republicans were dominating political websites until Kos and DU and others showed up.) Also had a habit of having affairs.

Overall, I can understand why many were/are lukewarm about Bill and Hillary, HOWEVER, compared to the Chimp I would love to have them back.

13. Don't forget...
Clinton's history on Gay Rights, or more aptly HUMAN Rights. He promised to allow gays to serve in the Military openly, but instead we got Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Now we get to see wonderful things like, gays being forced to go to Iraq and be discharged when they return. Another words, good enough to be cannon fodder, but not good enough to remain in the Military.

Then there is DOMA. Ahh, the Defense of Marriage Act. Bush gave lip service to making sure gays don't have rights, but Clinton actually accomplished it.

Then of course, to rub salt into the wounds you have Clinton during the 2004 Election telling Kerry to go running around acting as anti-gay as humanly possible.

It makes me sick to have politicians like the Clintons to ask for contribution for gay folks, give us lip service, then turn around and screw us over when they get into office. It makes me even more sick to have those same folks looked up to as "leaders" by other Democrats.

...and if I hear one more Clinton supporter talk about how Clinton had to make "compromises". Well, guess what... my life isn't a compromise. I wonder how those same folks would have reacted had it been a racial minority or women "compromised" instead of gays. Would it still have been okay? The man has had a firm hand in ruining lives and continuing suffering. His wife is not any better.

Look at the Pro's and Con's you listed and add mine to the list. I think that will speak for itself.

15. A lot of people are letting the media pick our candidate for us again.
It's sad how easy people are manipulated. Close to half the country still thinks Iraq was responsible for 9-11.

16. You know that's not the same thing, though.
I'm pretty sure she's running. But you can damn well bet that I'm going to be working my ass off to make sure that someone with the leadership qualities that we need gets the nomination.

18. First of all, her name is Senator Clinton. Please show a little respect.
Second of all, what you're witnessing is the work of trolls. Just ignore their crap about 2008 and please focus on 2006.

Peace.

My poll is just gauging what DUers think.

I thought that the fact that she is running is just common knowledge around here. Apparently, though, some want to contend otherwise. Which is, IMO, kind of disingenuous, but...hey, whatever.

20. She is quiet and moving to the center.
Hillary is playing it cool she doesn't need to be make any speeches or gestures toward a 2008 bid. She needs to be a good Senator from New York.

She is not making appearences with Cindy Shehan and not being a poster child for anti-Iraq rallies, she is becoming a centrist. It is her potential opponents that will make the sudden move toward 2008 like Edwards. Hillary is not making any type of statements against Bush like Edwards has been making. She is asking for a commission for Katrina she is being a Senator.
