Jack Cafferty wants emails in response to this evenings' question:
Before reading the question, Jack sighed, looked into the camera and said, "I can't make this stuff up."

"Is the president's homeland security advisor the right one to investigate what went wrong with the Katrina response."

"Is the president's homeland security advisor the right one to investigate what went wrong with the Katrina response."

Absolutely not! It's outrageous, Jack!

Investigations are supposed to be objective affairs, to help us understand what went wrong and correct them. Not only does it need to be by somebody not involved in the problem, but it also needs to be an outsiders.

Bi-partisan and the democrats need the power of veto, which they have been denied.

This is another abuse of power, plain and simple. What do they have to hide Jack? If they have nothing to worry about why not give the country an objective investigations so we can stop this happening again?

Thanks Jack, keep up the good work!

CNN we want MORE Jack Cafferty!

Dear Mr. Cafferty,

No, any investigation of the executive branch by the executive branch will undoubtedly be a white wash. I am utterly shocked that responsible journalists would portray it as anything *but* a whitewash.

The only proper investigation for the Katrina debacle is a truly *bipartisan* Congressional investigation. I do not mean the sham (and shameful) partisan white wash investigation proposed by the Republicans in the Senate, where only Republicans have subpeona power and where Democrats are in the minority.

Furthermore, It's time for the Bush Administration to stand up and take their lumps for the catastrophic policies of the past five years. It's time for Congress to be held accountable for their years of calculated enervation and demonization of the minority Democrats. It's time for Democrats to stand tall and again become an opposition party. Most of all, it's time for the press to again become the fourth estate of the government, speaking truth to power instead of being some warped entertainment-based lapdog of a out-of-control, incompetent administration.

The press needs to get out of the politics game and get into the facts game. Your opinions are useless without facts. I don't give a damn what diva talking heads think.

I thank you for your time and I thank you personally for caring.

Best regards,

Trying to get the truth from the Bush administration on anything is like Lou Costello trying to find out "who's on first"...

This is THE MOST inept, unaccountable and dangerous administation I have ever witnessed.

Having them investigate themselves is akin to O.J. dedicated to looking for the REAL killer.....

I've gotta offer the old fart some respect. I never liked him before because of his snarky comments about people and ideas that I respected. It sounds like he's finally seeing the BS is hurting America. I shot off my response which was basically not only no, but F#$% NO.

20. my response
Hi Jack,

In a nutshell, no. It's neither going to do a thing to make the administration seem more trustworthy or competent, nor will it reassure Americans about the readiness of homeland security or FEMA. We're scared, Jack, and not of terrorists or tornadoes... we're scared that we have buffoons at the helm, and the next crisis or the one after that will do more than embarrass us in front of the rest of the world and cost some thousand or more lives... we're scared that something horrifying will happen that will destroy our lifestyle as we know it, and the administration will be sitting on it's hands the same way GW Bush sat reading "My Pet Goat" on 9-11-2001 and sat on his hands for a week after it was known exactly how much damage Katrina could cause.

Sincerely,

23. Many decades ago, on "Make Room for Daddy"
there was an episode where Uncle Tonoose was upset that cousin Habib
was named Head of the Family (and given the prestigious cemetary
plot) by a Blue Ribbon committee consisting of "Habib's brother-in-law, Habib's brother, and Habib!"

Everything old is new again.

What difference does it make if Homeland security investigates itself? If the Republican controlled, Bush-enabling, rubber stampers of every whacked out scheme concocted by this administration were to control the investigation, the result will be exactly the same.
