Did anyone hear that Bush is replacing Fitzgerald as special prosecutor?

I thought I heard it on talk radio, but I just caught the end.

Anyone heard anything? I don't know if they were kidding or serious.

1. Obviously Bush would like to, yet I don't think he has the authority.

At least until Oct. when Fitzgerald's time is up.

why it freaked me out. I have sooo hoped some good, i.e., indictments or other would happen, and that they couldn't touch Fitzgerald, so I'm hoping it was someone kidding around on talk radio.

And the end of it they said the country would finally rise up against the government if Bush gets away with it.

4. Fitz wears two hats

He is a US Atty for the Chicago area, and his term there expires shortly. Perhaps he will be replaced, perhaps re-appointed, I haven't heard one way or another.

He is also a special prosecutor re: Plame, and there is no plan to remove him in that regard.

6. My best guesses --

1. There is no fixed term for a special prosecutor, he serves until his task is done or he is removed.

2. The reason I feel pretty confident there is no plan to remove him from his SP gig is, I check in at DU every day, and if there were such a plan made public, every other post would be discussing it.

7. I don't believe they can. When Comey appointed

Fitz he gave him the equivalent of an Attorney General. Fitz is there for the duration.

I didn't want people thinking I was off my rocker. LOL

I'm not the paranoid type really, but it soooo sounds like something Bushco would do if they could. The things they have gotten away with are beyond words.

I thought I heard it on Randi's show, but I listen to so many different people it's hard to remember who said what.

Well I sure hope it was just talk and not reality. Like the other poster said, DU would be buzzing if it were true. I'm betting alot on Fitzgerald since he seems to be untouchable, but you never know what they can dig up on a person, or just plain lie!!

16. The Strange Thing...

...is that I thought I heard (Bernie Ward or whomever it was) say that it would be the end of Bush if he tried. That the "people" wouldn't put up with it. I know I heard it somewhere...Like you, I listen to a wide variety of talk radio...someone said it.

Fitzgerald to stay on the job for a long while (and news on other subjects as well)

There has been much discussion in recent days-- including this post by Josh and later postings by friends of Josh's over at his Talking Points Cafe regarding concerns that there might have been, in recent days, an effort afoot to not reappoint Patrick J. Fitzgerald as U.S. Attorney in Chicago, because either prominent Republicans or the White House are upset with his tenacious pursuit of the Plame matter.
