Is Nagin being set up? Operation "Blame the Black Guy"
I heard this question being raised on Morning Sedition.

The administration needs a scapegoat and needs it bad.

Could Mayor Nagin hearing overly optomistic reports by the Feds, been duped into allowing people into the city--which naturally would be his own inclination--only to be overruled by the now "masterful" and "caring" Bush administration.

Nagin does not operate on the same level as these guys. My gut says they set him up and then cut him off at the knees.

This is a Rove production now.

1. I hope Nagin had the brights to get someone like Witt on his side to
guide him through. If he did not - then he was an accident waiting to happen. He needs expertise. If he didn't know he needed expertise then he was a fool.

Blanco says feds pledged buses

Capitol news bureau

Nearly three weeks after Hurricane Katrina raged ashore, Gov. Kathleen Blanco still wants one question answered.

Where were the buses?

Hours after the hurricane hit Aug. 29, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced a plan to send 500 commercial buses into New Orleans to rescue thousands of people left stranded on highways, overpasses and in shelters, hospitals and homes.

On the day of the storm, or perhaps the day after, FEMA turned down the state's suggestion to use school buses because they are not air conditioned, Blanco said Friday in an interview.

Even after levees broke and residents were crowding the Louisiana Superdome, then-FEMA Director Mike Brown was bent on using his own buses to evacuate New Orleans, Blanco said.

4. Him,Blanco and the Sierra Club...all Dems,all the blame...
Just the way Rove and his asshats want this to go down. After weeks of scolding everyone for playing the blame game they dig up the Sierra Club and play the blame game themselves.

Off course Rove and his Nazis don't have to do it personally, they have all of the MSM do it for them.

5. Yes, Nagin has a huge bull's eye on his back
He had endorsed Bobby Jindal, the Republican candidate for governor, instead of Blanco. Look what he got for it. Stabbed in the back.

6. CNN has joined in to make
make Nagin the scapegoat. I just saw one of their anchors interviewing a City Councilman. He spent about ten minutes trying to get him to say that the Mayor was a 'loose cannon' who should not have opened up the city to citizens to return, 'right in the middle of the Hurricane season'. I never saw a more obvious attempt to drag out of this guy, a condemnation of the Mayor. No mention of the Bush administration.

What I'm worried about now is that they will blame this Hurricane on some of the deaths caused by Katrina. This councilman fell right into the trap, by pretending to 'not wanting to point fingers' but 'we should all be on the same page' and 'no-one should make decisions in isolation' and 'no, the mayor didn't consult with me, but he was probably busy'.

There was not a single mention of Cheney's AWOL status, Bush's guitar playing or Chertoff's 'I didn't know anything' status'. Or of the five days it took for the help that was needed to arrive. It's obvious Rove has been on the phone to CNN. This mayor needs some expert advise to deal with these thugs.

And yes, I think he sucked up to the Republicans and then was shocked when he realized they were not answering his calls for help while his citizens were dying. If I were advising him I would tell him to say, when he is asked 'is there anything you would do differently' that he regrets 'trusting this administration and my Republican friends, who I now believe were only interested in what they could do to profit from this disaster'.

7. Yeah, I think you're right.
Nagin trusted Shrub at least to some extent--or maybe he doesn't trust Shrub which is what getting people into the city ASAP is all about.

He's getting stabbed in the back and look for every Governor and Mayor of every state and city to say "I'm not Blanco" and "I'm not Nagin".
