Sick and tired of losing my text!!!
So... how many times has this happened to you?

I throw all my passion and heat into a civil yet pointed reply or PM to another poster, often over a page in length. I check all my facts and spellings and preview the message, and then click "send". To move it on it's merry little way...and then....

ERROR: HAHA ALL THE SHIT YOU TYPED IS GOOOOOONE MOTHAFUCKA! YOU AINT GETTING IT BACK! YOU AINT GETTING IT BACK AT ALL!!! MUHUWAHAHAH *sounds of evil and foreboding and demon farts and republicans*

Or the poster you messaged was tombstoned, or the thread was locked, whichever.

Now I usually select everything and copy it just because I'm used to this shit happening, but occasionally I forget.

Isn't there a better way? Can't there be some sort of "clip-board" buffer dealie that can hold the data (preferably on the client end, independent from the server or it will STILL get lost when there is no communication to/from the server.)

So reply if you want to add something, kick this thread if it pisses you off too.

1. Uhh..welll...yeah
It pisses me off, too. I cannot understand the logic behind locking some threads, but maybe because they are locking mine.

3. It's Pretty Simple Actually...
On my Mac I write my post using Word. It's pretty cool cuz it also checks my spelling as I go. Then I copy and paste it. This also allows me to keep copies of my posts, which I like to do. I usually only do this with my long rants and posts.

Being from the old school...we always found ways to back up our work. However, it was never really necessary on Apple products...

Still wish they could fix that, but if not, that's what I'll do.

4. I often save my submissions into a WORD doc before I send.

If it fails to get posted the first time, just cut and paste it and post again.

Easy. Even on a PC clone.

6. I do that too
When all else fails, hit "back" on your browser... I usually find what was lost that way.

10. Sometimes that works...
But if it's a tombstoned user you just go back to a "no such user" page. I'd still like to have the text so I can e-mail them then.
I think I'll type up my longer posts in a Word processor or something from now on, just hope I remember.

11. I agree - it is greatly annoying
and you lose some "immediacy" when you have to open YET ANOTHER window to reply in.

I have learned to save any great tract of wisdom and higher-beingness with a copy before hitting "submit".

The admins do not hear us. Don't bother sacrificing any more goats to them, they really don't care.

WARNING!

ERROR!

The text of this post has been eaten by Grovelbot, the Evil Windows Elves, or random gemlins hanging about the server.

Most likely reason for this is that the entire thread belongs somewhere besides this forum.

Unless of course...it's really the mods eating our text...and you're covering for them... :tinfoilhat:

They're suppressing us!

It makes so little sense it almost makes too much sense! I can see it! I can see it all so so clearly through the blindness of sight! They may jail me and torture me but I SAW!!!!

*carried away by burly guys in black*

Edit: Well one of us can move it and it aint me. :)
If you can't tell, I was sort of pissed and not thinking very clearly when I started this thread.
