"What should be cut from federal budget to pay for Katrina"

Hmmm, earlier this morning I had sent him an email requesting he ask the REAL question, and that was if people thought the tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans should be stopped to pay for Katrina.

Guess he decided to edit it abit...let him know how you feel!

3. Hey, I replied to that!!
My email said:

"Is this a trick question? I think Katrina has shown us that cutting the budget is not always the way to go. Doesn't it make more sense to repeal the tax cuts to the richest one percent of Americans? Or to repeal some of the tax incentives that were offered to the OIL INDUSTRY in the rather euphemistically named 'energy bill'?? I guess they can cut out some of the pork from the budget. This IS the porkiest Congress in the history of Congresses, after all."

8. Here's what I sent him:
What should be cut from the federal budget to pay for Katrina?

EASY!

STOP THE WAR. Bring everybody home. AND their equipment. And redirect all that money HERE to THIS Gulf. Halliburton shouldn't scream too loudly about losing money. After all, it's still riding the gravy train with another no-bid contract for cleaning up here.

Also: ROLL BACK ALL THOSE TAX CUTS. Start talking about SHARED SACRIFICE, to shut up the selfish-and-stingey "I, Me, Mine" contingent. Those who are the MOST blessed are the MOST obligated to those who aren't. It's about time our government did something we don't have to be ashamed about: moving the "haves" and "have mores" to the back of the line and putting the needs of "the least of our brethren" FIRST for a change.

After all, isn't THAT a "family value"? Isn't THAT what a "good Christian" is supposed to do?

Thanks! KEEP HOLDING THE WHITE HOUSE ACCOUNTABLE!!!! Whether bush and his Republican apologists want to face it nor not, the buck DOES stop with him.

signed... me

It is SO gratifying to see he's yowling about this. Evidently he hasn't stopped. He's suspicious now, and appears to be looking at the White House with a newly jaundiced eye and a glacier-sized grain of salt. And even better, he's not afraid to say so.

17. Very good
The point has been made before that this is the first "war" where there are tax cuts. No president has done that before. Not even Nixon. And look at where we are.

And thanks to crooksandliars.com or I wouldn't even know who Cafferty was, since I can hardly stomach cable news

copy of mail

1.The boondoggle known as Missile Defense (aka Star Wars)

2.The Highway Transportation Pork Fest(Bridge To Knowhere, etc)

3.The Corporate Handouts from the Energy Bill

4.While not a budget item, the tax cuts for the top brackets.

Thank You for asking the question, Mr. Cafferty. Please keep telling truth to power and may the spirit of Mencken and Murrow watch over you.

10. How about the mohair subsidy?
I understand that Sam Donaldson gets a government check for his little hobby ranch in the Southwest (New Mexico?). I'm sure it wouldn't be very much, but I'll bet a dollar to a hole in a doughnut that if Congress started messing with Donaldson's slice of the federal pie, he'd get back to acting like a journalist tout de suite.

11. Dock Bush's pay for all his vacation days.
He doesn't have a contract that says he is allowed to go on endless vacations, therefore he owes us a refund.

I mean, I know they need those lasers for crowd control and firing up those hurricanes to "Biblical proportions" but really, hasn't this boondoggle been milked enough already?

16. I suggested....
to Jack, he raise the issue that over 600+ big Corporations have off-shore accounts in the islands and avoid BILLIONS in taxes. Collect the taxes on THOSE accounts and you've got PLENTY of money, without cutting important programs.

19. here's mine...
I work for a Native American tribe and we were at the area Bureau of Indian Affairs office yesterday. The BIA superintendent informed the Tribal Chairman that it had come down on high from DC that morning that the BIA funds for tribes will be cut. They didn't know how much but it would be cut for Katrina.

The Bush administration would take food out of the mouths of poor, dying babies and give it to their rich corporate pals. Shame on this nation.
