Alison Stewart deserves an award for her coverage of the plane at LAX

Her anchoring of the coverage of the emergency landing at LAX of the JetBlue flight was nothing short of the highest form of teevee competence I've seen in a long time.

She was cool. She was articulate. She was factual. She was unflappable. She was informative. And if I were following the news in a personal way - like with someone I knew on the plane - she was comforting.

There was no 'how do you feel' crap asked of irrelevant 'experts'. There was no flustering breathless 'oh boy!'.

Listening to her put me in mind of the greatest on teevee news of old.

This woman deserves her own show. She's just plain great. I've always been an admirer of hers, and now she's proven my intuition right.

I also kinda like the fact that she's not your usual blonde (usually RW) teevee bimbo.

15. I'll second that
She's not Keith but she's a very capable substitute. She did an excellent job covering the emergency landing earlier.

4. I remember her back from her MTV days.
Today her name wouldn't be cool enough, LOL.

But I was suprised to see her turn up doing "real" news. Good for her, though I missed it tonight.

8. Yeah ... until 2 minutes before landing
How cool is that?

The guy she interviewed was a NBC employee (a producer, I think she said).

9. That's some crazy stuff.
How strange would it be to be on a plane, watching the plane you were on.

11. The guy she was talking to said he felt it was a bit weird
and that others on the plane took their headphones off. I don't know what i would do. I suspect I'd be watching and listening. I always find it better to know than to not know. Ya know? :)

12. I'm with you. You never know what might make the difference
between surviving, and not.

And especially with AS giving good, dispassionate info.

Now, if all I could get was Hannity, I'd turn it off. Imagine if the last thing you saw was Sean Hannity's face?

13. She asked the guy what the pilot and the control tower were talking about
What a stupid question. Were they talking about football scores? Hurricanes? I still think she is an airhead.

14. Actually, I heard that and thought it quite pertinent
The point of the question (to which, it was clear to me, she knew the answer) was to show that the pilot had the benefit of not only the tower, but also his maintenance base and the manufacturer's engineering department in Toulouse, France. The point .... he's getting lotsa qualified, high powered help. The message ... if you're flying (as a pax) and have an emergency, there are resources out there to help you through it. Don't forget, she also knew the people on the plane were watching her, too.

19. I think the pilot was talking about the problems they were having and the
tower was talking about the landing situation. That simple. My point is that these airheads ask questions about very obvious things and are just ad-libbing it, trying to act knowledgeable. If you look at it closely, there is a producer there putting the questions up there for them to read. Its entertainment.

17. I was flipping back and forth between her and Paula Zahn
last night. Alison Stewart definitely did better than Paula. At one point, when the tornado alert was announced for Minneapolis, Paula looked like she was about to walk off the set. Got really flustered. Said it was the busiest news night ever, or something along that lines. She couldn't keep up with the different experts that they had on the phone, different airline pilots. Alison had LA Fire Dept. on the phone, it was much more interesting. I noted that they also kept her on the whole 2 hours, didn't go to Raspy Rita. That shows me that had more trust in her than Rita. Yay! But still I prefer Keith over all of them!!!!
