Democratic Talking Point: Stand by Houston Mayor Bill White!
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 10:03 PM by dhinojosa
Hey it's me, your sexy stud of DU with my first talking point...ow!

Anyways, I just want to say that the preparedness by Houston Democratic Mayor Bill White so far has been pretty good. I have been impressed. It is my opinion, that Houston will suffer minimal casualties, and hopefully no casualties. Given that, I think because of this Republicans will want to take credit for it, citing the governor of Texas and even, yes, you guessed it George W. Bush in an effort to extinguish their bad poll numbers. My point is lets start early by sending emails to friends, collegues, or even start talking around the water cooler about what a badass things are with Bill White, and lift him up.

We can keep constant tabs on him. Provide posts of all his actions, and all his discussions with FEMA and other federal agencies. We need to keep pumping him across any wave you got. I say we should be Bill White-a-holics. There are a few reasons why this is a great idea.

* We start some activism early
* We let people know the preparedness before something happens
* Bill White is a Democrat, and served as Deputy Secretary of Energy of the United States
* When people comment on hopefully zero casualties, you can mention, "See I told you Bill White kicked ass"
* This is in Texas, and when a Democrat powerhouse like Bill White does good, it will work in all of our favors
* Bill White's approval ratings are high, very high, and such a great guy need to propped on our shoulders.

There could be other reasons for this, but I think this is an awesome idea. So, what do you think?

P.S. I appreciate a kick once in a while to get more feedback!

1. How about we stand by Americans? If I want talking points.
I'll have a full frontal labotomy and join the republican party. Nobody puts words in my mouth, EVER!

3. I haven't seen anything that I'd expect White
or Perry to do better. That's the thing about following a plan and doing your job: it's not when you don't screw up that people pay attention to.

Then again, Houston'll have a better go of it than NOLA: imagine NOLA post-Katrina with intact levees and flood walls. We wouldn't give a fig about unused school buses.
