Lessons Learned from Katrina? WTF????
Excuse me, but Katrina was not the FIRST hurricane to hit the US. How many hit Florida last year?

The other BIG ones: Hurricane Hugo? Hurricane Andrew? Um, CAMILLE?

I simply cannot for the life of me understand how Bushco and the media can with a straight face repeat ad nauseum "the lessons from Katrina." It's just like the "lessons from September the Eleventh" that bush spouts everytime he opens his little lipped mouth.

Ugh.

1. It's their ideology, Rock
You're talking reason. They don't believe in reason.

The bottom line is that we're screwed until we throw the neo-cons out and banish their ideology to the depths of Hell forever.

2. I am also Appalled
I was here in Miami when Hurricane Andrew struck Homestead/Florida City and other places in Miami-Dade county. It took FEMA 3 days to arrive. Over 200,000 people were homeless, hungry and thirsty. Looting was going on there. That was 1992 under Poppy Bush Administration. How many years since then? 13 years and they say "Lessons learned from Katrina".. how annoying!x(

Gulf Coast Caucus.

In an attempt to examine the economic effects of Hurricane Katrina and begin plans to rebuild along the Gulf Coast, Rep. Katherine Harris (R-Fla.) is set to host a planning meeting of the Congressional Gulf of Mexico Caucus today.

“Such planning is vital to a rapid economic recovery, and critical to ensuring that the lives and livelihoods of our citizens and communities experience minimal disruption,” Harris said in a letter to her Gulf-area colleagues.

The meeting will focus on the Gulf of Mexico Trade Corridor Transportation Study, which looks at the issues surrounding economic development among the five U.S. and six Mexican states that are part of the cooperative agreement known as the Gulf of Mexico States Accord Secretariat.

“This study will provide members with a long-term blueprint of how the Gulf of Mexico border can best cultivate a plan for future economic and infrastructure development,” Harris wrote....Harris is the chairwoman and founder of the caucus, which formed last year and focuses on issues of economic development, homeland security and environmental protection in the Gulf region. ...
