Braun, Clark, Dean, Sharpton and Kucinch suporters check in here!
These canidates will have the only chance of winning the nomination. All of the other canidates that supported Bush's oil war that cost the lives of hundreds of Americans, won't have a snowball's chance in hell. Because the canidates I listed above said the truth about Saddam's capture=

-This will not make America safer.
-This still does not justify a unjust war.

In a week or so all of the hoopla over Saddam's capture will fade away because the reality of Iraq will set in. This is a god awful quagmire that El cokehead loco cannot win ever.

1. I disagree
I think Edwards and Kerry have a better chance than Kucincich/Sharpton/Braun.

I rate them (in terms of likelihood of nomination):

1 - Dean/Clark
2 - Kerry/Edwards
3 - Gephardt/Lieberman
4 - Kucinch
5 - Braun/Sharpton

12. Switch #2 & #3; move Dean up to #0
Much as I love, admire, and support Clark, he's got a hell of a stunt ahead of him if he wants to beat Dean. The doctor of Vermont is, as they say on "Get Your War On", in the mother fucking house. Clark is well positioned, but so far behind that it may not matter.

While we love to trash Holy Joe around here, intellectual honesty dictates we recognize that a sizeable portion of the party does want to see him nominated--the same ones who are very uncomfortable with the bi-coastal culture that appeals to social liberals.

Kerry is improving, but essentially he's floundering less rather than getting stronger. He may pick up some more speed in New Hampshire, but I don't see him living long past Jan 27th. The flood will be on as of Wednesday morning and Kerry will be the first swept away. All he can do at this point is hurt Clark, who's currently eating Kerry's voters up.

Gephardt, otoh, has been positioning himself in the sunbelt much better than expected. I think he's going to survive his #2 showing in Iowa because Dean is rightly seen as a juggernaut. Expectations are managed and the first round of elections after NH (Feb 3rd) includes Missouri.

I'd rate the chances of nomination this way:

1 - Dean (better than 50/50)
2 - Clark (kinda long shot if the right people crumble)
3 - Gephardt/Lieberman (very long shot)
4 - Kerry/Edwards (virtually no chance)
5 - Kucinich/Sharpton/Moseley Braun (no chance at all)

2. Yes and yes.
For chrisakes...they could have at least dressed him up and given him a lighted "spiderhole". Could ANY man have looked like less of a threat to the U.S.? SH was NO threat, either before or after the war. Before, he was content to be a 2nd rate dictator who subverted international aid funds for his own use and abused his people. Afterwards, he was all that, without any power...which made him a nobody. Who cares where he is now? In this situation, he's already been defeated. Capturing him is, granted, the capture of a "bad man", but how, exactly, will it make us more secure?

4. If the media already labels Dean (a centrist)..
..as "unelectable", "McGovern", "too far left"--what chance in bloody hell does Dennis Kucinich have?

5. you're falling for fear mongering
Edited on Thu Dec-18-03 02:07 AM by morgan2
The republicans have their sheep voting for them out of fear for their security, and have democrats scared of the truth because its too "far left." Don't be scared to do the right thing. He can win if people support him. You are a person, support him if you agree with him. If you are constantly scared of what happened in the past you will never be succesful.

7. Would you please tell me one thing?
WHY would any self-respecting person in this country give a rat's patoot what the lying media whores say about ANY candidate?

Do you think 90% of the disenfranchised voters, you know the ones who stayed home in 2000 are paying ANY attention to the corporate media? No, because all it does is depress them even more. Now you take them to a DK appearance and they'll come out with their eyes positively glowing with renewed hope and a determination to vote in the Primary.

10. exactly - that's why DK works
we're going to get the label either way - in DK's case it will be a strength, and truthful, as opposed to a liability we have to overcome.

Either way 40% will go to *, and everyone else to our person. Now's the opportunity to make it stick.
