Rawstory..Developing...LEAKED: GOP EYES HUGE CUTS
"Document Recommends axing National Endowment for the Arts, Humanities, Corporation for Public Broadcasting funds; Kill money for DNC, RNC conventions, End anti-drug ads, Cancel moon mission, cut AIDS aid, first responder grants... MORE... Soon.."

First responder grants?? Great idea. Keep your eye out for this.

10. You're right there...will public opinion prevent them (or congress)?
I'm hoping there will be a HUGE outcry over this. Now THIS is an issue that ALL democrats should stand up and fight for.

Do we know if this was just discussion, or is it an actual plan to put in action?

34. Not just an outcry,
but a revolution. I will bet my next paycheck that if they do this, Americans will start marching in HUGE numbers. They won't put up with it.

Bush will be forced to retreat. We've seen it after Katrina. They won't dare do it.

28. That was exactly why Reagan created the huge deficits...
WH Budget czar Darman said so. Reagan created the huge deficits as
an excuse to cut welfare payments.

paying our taxes. They no longer work for us after all. They work solely for corporate interests.

When will Joe six pack wake up to the indisputable fact that this constitutes taxation without representation and all the other things the colonists were bitching about having to do the tyranny and madness of King George.?

see the Declaration of Independence for reference.

Just donate it all to an ethical charity if you can find one to cover your butt.

18. Story up now
An internal Republican Study Committee document which is now available online and was simultaneously leaked to RAW STORY Thursday outlines an array of huge cuts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, including the elimination of funding for Amtrak and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The document was first reported on by Roll Call.

RAW STORY has analyzed the pages and presented some of the more specific cuts. At this stage, these are cuts proposed by the Committee, which is composed of 86 House Republicans.

21. The new "New Deal" will begin with the states -- again
This is what happened under Hoover. A few enlightened states -- even cities -- had their own proto-New Dealish plans to relieve suffering.

Blue states will have to distinguish themselves with public works, environmental, educational, arts programs, etc. (To the degree that they can -- but states may have more leeway with their tax structures, esp., again, the Blue Ones).

The red states will have to careen into squalor and a kind of governmental oblivion, and when the country is ready, Blue States will have served as the lab(s) for experimentation and recovery.

33. Many of us hold that same thought. As well as Disabled on SSDI...
What also worries me is that I saw a recent copy of AARP magazine, on which Condi Rice was on the cover...with a big smile/smirk on her face?!!
Given that AARP has been one of the staunchest lobbyists for the protection of SS, this concerns me greatly. Plus this Admin. has been looking for any excuse to cut SS, and now if they can helplessly shrug and say..."Sorry, had no choice."
Gosh, I hope not. They are definitely positioning to delay the long-awaited, and soon to be Medicare Drug Discount program. This Admin. is soooo sadistic.

that those within 10 years of retirement will not be
affected by any changes in social security. I will hold
the president personally responsible if he reneges on
that promise.
