The Difference in Response

I just watched a report on ABC news that detailed the difference in response to Hurricane Rita as opposed to Hurricane Katrina. I contend some of the things in the report were over promoted. First, ABC pointed out that in New orleans people were evaucated only 24 hours before the storm whereas in Galveston people were evaucated 72 hours before the storm. What ABC failed to mention in that the federal government told the mayor of Galveston that she only needed 24 hours to evaucate the city. Therefore the government made about the same mistake as it did with Katrina. This time the mayor did not listen to the federal government and decided to evaucate earlier. ABC also pointed out that Bush was in Texas days before Hurricane Rita whereas he did not go to New Orleans until days after the storm. Here ABC fails to mention or even ask if Bush had been on vacation when this strom hit he most likely would not have left his ranch or vacation in order to deal with the storm. So things really probably did not change that much in term of the Bush Administration's response.
