3. Let Justice Be Done Though the heavens fall!

FIAT JUSTITIA, RUAT COELUM. "Let justice be done though the heavens fall"—these words were powerfully invoked by Lord Mansfield in 1772 as he freed the slave whose fate was at issue in Sommersett’s case.

5. Lord Mansfield on conscience
"I will not do that which my conscience tells me is wrong to gain the huzzahs of thousands, or the daily praise of all the papers which come from the press; I will not avoid doing what I think is right, though it should draw on me the whole artillery"

Lord Mansfield

14. Ahh, but it's a great film - JFK I just read here at DU something
about Nixon being in Dallas the day Kennedy was shot.

I love that part in JFK when they are in court and Costner's character says something about statistics can tell you that an elephant can hang by its tail from a cliff but common sense tells you otherwise (something like that).

The Warren Commission like the 9-11 Commission was HOOEY, HOGWASH...each of them sold the public a lemon.

If a group of insiders, possibly, probably in government can murder a president...what have they done since then?

16. I believe it was "physics in a nuclear laboratory", not "statistics".
I just happenned to catch that part of the movie surfing the channels last night. The analogy of the elephant hanging by its tail off a cliff certainly fits though. That's far more probable than the so called "magic bullet" theory.

I've seen "computer simulations" of how Oswald supposedly could have pulled this off, and the Seinfeld magic loogie theory made far more sense. Even more ridiculous are the same people making computerized models of Sirhan Sirhan managing to shoot RFK point blank behind his right ear despite the fact that Sirhan was standing in front of Bobby the entire time.

I wonder if Arlen Spector will come clean about what he knows before he dies? I'm not sure of the exact status of his health, but the man certainly doesn't look like he's winning the battle with cancer.

8. Justice is one of those wonderful nearly dead words.
Language changes, sometimes slowly, and sometimes lightning fast, as with the BushCo regime.

Words which are either dead, or dying:

Justice
Accountability
Responsibility
Consideration
Conduct
Selflessness

That's just off the top of my head.

9. But let justice roll down like waters
and righteousness like an everflowing stream.

Hosea 5:24

And I'm watching JFK, too. Not exactly the most historically accurate movie ever made, but quite a good movie nevertheless.

10. Justice and Truth
A little different, but related. Johannes Eckhart, Dominican Catholic monk, 1260-1327 (about), from page 240 of the book "Meister Eckhart," by Raymond Blakney:

"What is truth? Truth is something so noble that if God could turn aside from it, I could keep to the truth and let God go."

Of course, that would never be, as it would then just make God a figurehead or story, apart from the most real real, which would then exist separately, somehow. That is a favorite quote of mine, "...keep to the truth and let God go." That is God telling you that.

It is one of my favorite words as well...

I think the quote, which I took from the film "JFK," is very powerful.
