Dowd on MTP this morning said that * wasn't facing
the reality of his life, ie that if he ever got in trouble he had his daddy's friends to bail him out. That most people don't have that.

And that until * accepts that truth, he and the rest will continue to believe in the pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps myth.

And use it to distance themselves from poor people who did not have such advantages.

Thus no empathy for the poor.

What she said could have easily been a post here.

3. He never was a cowboy to begin with.
The "All Hat, No Cattle" was quite accurate.

17. Heh heh. Good slogan. How about these:
"From cocky to rocky"

"From fooling to drooling"

"From unfazed to glazed"

15. Conservative cheerleaders lost their pep
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 12:34 PM by Marie26
And what was up with David Brooks (arch-conservative) calling Bush the "Manchurian Candidate" who will destroy everything he believes in? Jeez. On an earlier program he actually said that he was ANGRY at Bush & had said "maybe it will pass." Guess it didn't.

And Friedman crticizing Bush like he was against him all along. For all Tim Russert's nitpicking of Broussard, I couldn't believe that he didn't mention that Friedman was one of the biggest cheerleaders for the war in Iraq. But I guess no one wants to mention that now.

Maureen Dowd is the only one who's been consistent throughout - she always thought Bush was a moron.

4. Someday we'll get the details
How the man displayed arrogance as a cover for his own weakness and ineptitude. We'll learn how Bush's personality flaws hurt the nation. Bootstraps would be a great start.

7. These character traits might even be more important
than Al Gore's penchant for wanting to be the smartest boy in the class and for listening to wardrobe consultants, right Mo?

10. Hey, Whoreen-- remember this crap you wrote 5 years ago?
"The problem with Al Gore is not only that he's a goody-goody, but that he's a bullying goody-goody ? an oxymoron that seems a total turn-off to the male voters that Mr. Gore badly needs. He tattles on his rivals, he stretches the truth of his experiences, all in a self-defeating effort to seem even more perfect."

11. I watched it
The conservative columnist, Brooks, said w "cares about poor people." I had to laugh out loud. He must care about them, he makes more and more of them daily.

The segment with Broussard was awesome. The man has starch!

13. Gee Maureen, did you finally figure that out?
Others have already pointed out some of your writing lowlights. We've been telling you for YEARS that George W. Stupidhead was totally incompetent to run the government, and that he's failed upward in everything he's tried, always bailed out by his daddy's pals. Instead, during the elections when a little honest reporting could have made a difference, you wanted to focus on irrelevancies.

Your inaction helped saddle us with this loser. Too late smart again.

14. It is unfortunate that she seems to have used her
column and "punditry" as a blood sport to go after anyone and everyone in power.

It does kind of devalue her currency now in discussing *, doesn't it?
