Bush Pushing Military State
It was announced today that Bush wants to put the military in charge of national disaster relief. This is horrible. Bush is moving the country into a military state. It seems that putting the military in charge of disaster relief is a first step to declaring martial law. I want to stop this before it can start.

3. Shows that chimps love banana
republics. He and his troop need to think about how much closer that gets to the possibility of a military coup.

He's not the only one
US military runs this country, make no mistake about that. It's on both sides of the aisle-filthy lucre from the Pentagon.

The problem goes back to when the powers, beauties, and deep knowledges of the age-old women's traditions were supplanted by military-caste mystiques & the accumulation of heavy metals

5. Then put the Coast Guard in charge
I am surprised I heard so little praise for them ANYWHERE, but remember that those guys were out in their choppers pulling people off the roofs from the very beginning, all the way until they couldn't find anyone else.

Unlike the National Guard, I never heard of any of the Coast Guard people pulling guns on people dying of thirst, hunger and lack of hygeine.

I think they are the unsung heros -akin to FDNY on 9/11

6. Sounds like we have yet another battle on our hands!
So to speak....I say, not now, not no how, and not HERE! I know the military has a role in disaster relief, but it should be a limited role, not the leading role!!

7. CNN's show Security Watch Special had some things that
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 10:08 PM by KarenS
really really bothered me,,,, they talked about the fact that none of the Emergency Management people were ready for civil unrest during the time of a diaster and after what happened in New Orleans, basically all the books on the subject need to be rewritten ~~ Hello?? If they had prepositioned food & water AND actually delivered it perhaps the 'civil unrest' would not have happened!! It just all seemed to be slanted toward herding the public around and keeping them in control.
It is all leaning toward the military being in control during a disaster and it's scaring me.

8. This is the domain of the National Guard
And it needs to be reiterated! We don't need US Military presence in time of disaster, we need the National Guard, restored to its original strength (ie. brought back from Iraq) to handle these sorts of things. And yes, you're right - this is just a prelude to a declaration of martial law. Don't let the bastards frame the issue as the US Military is the only body that can handle disasters efficiently. The clusterfuck that was the Katrina response was solely due to the absence of the National Guard and it needs to be shoved back in their faces whenever they try to foist this crap onto the public.

9. ooh, goody!
I can see it now...something happens in CA...BushCo declares martial law...where are all the soldiers going to come from?? We have very few bases left...they were closed and moved to redder states, mostly in the South. And right now, the National Guard is stuck in Iraq.

So, anyway, Dingbat declares martial law, and except for a few large cities, no one notices. CA is really large and has lots of inaccessible places, and other places which way off the beaten track. Think the local sheriffs departments have enough people?...ha, think again.

Dingbat&Co somehow forget how large and relatively unpopulated the western states are. CA has most of its population in smallish areas compared to the land space. I just want to see them chasein' terrists around in the Serrias, or up in the Trinity Alps. Sure. For those of us who know CA history...remember the Modoc Indians and how long they held out against the US Army?

The revolution will be televised.
