DU Action Alert! Pepsi Drops Kanye West! Tell them how you feel!
Kanye West:

"Bush doesn't care about Black people."

That was a moment in history. A man saying the truth in a public forum. Kanye West is my hero. I love him.

So what does Pepsi do? DROPS HIM FROM SPONSORSHIPS!

Please let Pepsico how you feel. BOYCOTT PEPSI UNTIL THEY RESTORE KANYE!!!!

1. ummm, how about an email? This takes too long to dig through
all the marketing shit. But it's a good idea. I just don't have the patience to rat through this bullshit. Tried and couldn't find a real email address.

5. Done-thanks
I was just informed that you are going to drop Kanye West. What is the problem? All he has done was to tell the truth. If you do this, I will stop buying any of your products. I have a very big mouth and I will tell everyone how you people work. I do not think this is a smart move on your part.
Sincerely,

6. So I will try not to buy pepsi. Seems a shame the corporations couldn't
understand where West was coming from. We were all shocked and we all still ask why.

I guess pepsi likes to make "examples" out of people - just like the Rove WH.

46. May want to try RC Cola...
Governor Jeb Bush said he wanted to go on record in favor of repealing a state rule that restricts the in-school sale of beverages from vending machines.
What Bush didn't say was that during the 1998 election cycle, the Coca-Cola Company gave him $500 and Lt. Governor Frank Brogan $500. Brogan served as Florida's Commissioner of Education before joining Bush's campaign ticket in 1998. Members of Bush's Cabinet also benefited from Coca-Cola's generosity. Secretary of State Katherine Harris, Attorney General Bob Butterworth and Commissioner of Education Tom Gallagher each received $500 from the company. Florida law prohibits corporations like Coca-Cola from making contributions in excess of $500 per election to individual candidates.

Kanye Still Down With Pepsi

I DRINK PEPSI!

…Diet Pepsi that is! Well, I am pleased to let you all know that the good people at Pepsi contacted me and let me know that they will keep working with Kanye. Love is love. A representative told me the brewing rumors weren’t true. “We noticed your item in the Rumor Section about Kanye West and Pepsi and we just wanted you to know that our relationship with Kanye hasn't changed and that our marketing campaign with him will continue as planned,” the rep stated. That is very appreciated Pepsi so dead the rumors.

I believe this was from a couple of weeks ago, so things may have changed

I will never have any pepsi products again if they drop my Kanye!

When the Brothers and Sisters in the Hood hear something like that ---Woooo! It will not be good for Pepsi.
How does that look?

Kanye has already told us that Bush Don't Care About Black People and now
he will have a new verse to his mega hit record--"Pepsi don't Like Black People"

Pepsi get down, get down!"

That it wasn't true. But coming from Pepsi its not surprising they dropped another rapper by the name of Ludacris a few years ago because Bill O'Reilly was bitching about how he wasn't a good role model. Ironic thing is, they replaced him with the Osbournes

20. It's easy
Don't buy ANY of that crap from ANY of them.

Don't buy "soft drinks" (mostly sugar -- High Fructose Corn Syrup from Archer Daniels Midland), Don't buy "processed" food of any kind.

Don't buy Coke, Don't buy Pepsi, Don't buy any of their garbage.

Buy whole grains and wholesome food from local farmer's markets and locally owned stores. it's really easy, try it!!!

They all give heavily and almost exclusively to repukes.

If you REALLY want a society based on freedom and social justice, you must learn to spend your money right! Don't support the bastards who are paying for the repukes' fascist takeover of the U.S.

22. Pepsi has a track record of chickenshitness when it comes to controversy.
They dropped Madonna after the Catholics condemned the "Like a Prayer" video.

They dropped rapper Ludacris after his public battle with Bill O' Reilly.

They dropped Michael Jackson even before the pedophile allegations. I think it was after the "Black and White" video where he smashes a windshield and goes nuts.

Quite the hypocrisy from a corporation who played a major role in persuading the government to attempt an invasion of Cuba (Bay of Pigs) so they could get their cheap sugar source back.

full set of what is? No. Is this is LBN? No. It is acceptable level of proof in a court of law? NO! But it was said and I am not lying about that. In some circles its called a scoop! DMC said so and that's good enough for me.

I am reported what DMC said last night, more than once on Chuck D's show On The Real. On Air America radio. DMC, as in Run DMC, spoke with authority and thats why I wrote what I wrote.

In America we are allowed to write freely about things public figures say on radio programs... But I do appreciate your skepticism and I will certainly retract this if it turns out to be bunk.

Am I sposed to be careful of what? I am trying to be careful that a major outspoken critic of Bush retains his access to a wide audience? Yes! Guilty as charged.

48. He also was a risk taker and in the avant guard!
And I bet he made mistakes occassionally from all those risks he took. I dont know about his spelling skill. The Kanye ad is still on the Pepsi website, but I havent seen it on the air since Katrina. Perhaps Pepsi hasn't made up its mind. Perhaps Pepsi executives are split down the middle about it right now. You don't think that's likely? How about getting emails from angry people who heard from DMC on Chuck D's show and nobody contradicted him or anything, those people write emails supporting Kanye, you don't think thats a good idea. Oh no, he says Bush doesnt like Black people and Pepsi's just fine. Extra Kanye money for sure... Nope Pepsi is doing it, did it or WILL DO IT. So how is that make me a jerk and you a good guy?

I can't edit the title, I probably should have qualified the title a little. But what exactly up YUR butt? I don't wanna free Mumia or take any Holy Land. No I just like my home boy Kanye and DMC said Pepsi's dropping him. So what haveyou done today to fight Bush.?

According to the posters this ad has not played on TV Since Kanye's Bush speech. That means ads were pulled. That means they are not playing them. No they havent officially dropped him. They just arent playing them and paying him.

Kanye can't talk because you cant when yousign a contract with pepsi. But his freinds can and have. So I stand by this thread and will call it a story in progress.

I am writing to Chuck D and hope his staff can clarify.

How would Pepsico minimize damage? Would they immediately have a huge press release and condemn Kanye? HMMMMMMm?

Or would they quietly pull them and go minimum on the contract...BINGO (not dropping, just NOT PLAYING)

65. COPY OF PEPSICO RESPONSE "Kanye lost deal ... not true"
thanks to Tx41 for this

Nicole Bradley, Manager, Public Relations, Pepsi-Cola North America:
"Hello EUR: This note is to inform you that you've received an erroneous email regarding Kanye West and Pepsi. The letter said that Kanye has lost his endorsement deal with Pepsi, which is not true.

Our relationship with Kanye has not changed and our marketing campaign is continuing as planned. In fact, his Pepsi commercial is scheduled to air several times this week. Thanks for giving us the chance to clarify the situation and please feel free to share this note with anyone else who may have received the message."

I am glad the commercials will be back on the air. Let's watch them for follow thru.
