Young, political and in a league of their own
Bring us your renters, your multiple job holders, your young and curious. It should be the catch phrase for the League of P----- Off Voters. (My comment: They really are the League of Pissed Off Voters but I guess this paper is afraid of printing that.)

Last year the league entered the fray of the 2004 presidential election alongside a gang of other groups, committees, and bandwagons aimed at increasing the clout (and turnout) of young voters.

But in the afterglow of the election, many of those organizations faded. A year later the league is pushing ahead, this fall focusing on educating that same block of people on the local races this fall in Portland.

...

What the league brings to the mix is the single-minded goal of changing the nature of the game: getting younger, possibly disenfranchised voters involved in politics and government. That's why they've tried to stay visible through meetings and other events like candidates' nights, parties, and even field trips.
