NYDN "Kerry's not- so-amazing race, on film"
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/gossip/story/349711p-298362c.html

"I hear that John Kerry loyalists are kicking themselves for cooperating last year with filmmaker Steve Rosenbaum on "Inside the Bubble," a potentially devastating behind-the-scenes look at the Massachusetts senator's failed presidential campaign.
I'm also told that Hillary Clinton partisans are licking their chops to see the film, which "could end up being the silver bullet that kills Kerry's presidential chances for 2008," says a Lowdown spy." snip

1. Like I said in a similar thread...
...Kerry didn't claim his victory in '04.

He's forfeited another chance.

7. Indeed,
so is this gossip person a Republican. He sure isn't painting either Kerry or Clinton in a particularly good light. This almost reads like a Republican gossip column.

9. Sounds like someone is trying to stir the shit between Kerry and Clinton.
We don't need a messy primary, but boy would it serve the Republicans well if the Democrats exhaust their campaign funds fighting each other.

20. I'll try to reserve judgement on Clinton, even though grinning staffers
drooling over Kerry's demise is not an appealing image to have stuck in one's head.

16. No, not really.
The text is taken straight from the National Journal, which both parties rely on and has made a name for itself as being objective. It will, however, concede to treating politics as a game as much as politicians do.

10. Amen - now that's one horror flick I'd like to see!
I'm waiting for Vanessa's film to come out about her dad's campaign.
That's the one I want to see.

12. I want to see it too.
I actually want to see both of them. The fact that there is even a video of the Kerry campaign says to me that they didn't have anything too horrible to hide. Apparently shrub had a lot he didn't want us to see.

13. I agree. Why can't Michael Moore make one? Disenfranchisement
alone would make B** out to be the creep he is.

6. The Hillary Clinton partisans can kiss my ass
It sounds like they're treating this like one big fucking game. That is, of course, if you can believe gossip.

I hope they and she don't think that getting Kerry out of the way will mean that it will be clear sailing without his interference.

They forget that the more liberal folks vote in the primaries. And she's not exactly their pal at the moment.

Here's a better, or at least less gossipy, write up:

"A Democratic Look in the Mirror
So, the word is out. We'll see what that means. Wonkettte today broke the news that after almost 18 months of soul searching, hair pulling, and long nights... the film known as "Inside The Bubble" will premier in New York on September 29th.

Those of you who've followed this film know that it's been an emotional road. No one sets out to make a film about a losing candidate for President. We though we were chronicalling a winner. And after that fateful day in November, 2004 - we spent a bunch of months with the footage under lock and key. But in the end - it seemed like someone needed to pull thier head out of the sand and ask the painful question 'What Happened?'

That said - the 80 min. film should give Democrats alot to think about. Which is not to say the film is grim - far from it. The truth is the experience of being on the road with the Kerry team was upbeat, exhausting, and expensive. But in the end - the questions come down to ideas. Who has them. Who can express them. And how many American's are willing to sign up for a candidates platform. I won't spoil the movie - except to say, it's not what you expect.

===

The 'Inside The Bubble' screenings - Thursday Sept. 29th, 6pm screening / The Phillips Theatre. Second screening Sunday at 4pm at the Milk 2 Theatre.

22. Well they mention the debates
so it couldn't have been to far before the election.

The film itself might be interesting, but Lloyd Grove and his snark is getting on my nerves. Then again, I don't normally read gossip columns, esp. not from papers that, unless I'm mistaken, have a conservative bent.

25. You know, idiots everywhere
I'm always fascinated by behind the scenes looks at campaigns, though. I thought "Staffers" was very good, so this may be good, too.

26. We need a documentary to show us how the machines were rigged.
All else is a waste of time and bull-dust to supposedly analyze how or why Kerry lost. Of course he had flaws as a candidate. All HUMANS do. But that's NOT why he lost.

If Hilary uses this to her advantage, that's just another reason why I'd never vote for her.

8. This is just bullsh*t to promote this film and make money.
I find it amusing that Kerry remains so popular they feel they have to continue to discredit him. I bet this film is actually benign and Kerry comes off as being more down to earth and likable.

FWIW, I'm finishing up a documentary about parts of the Kerry campaign and other tidbits from the 2004 election. I promise to only take aim at the Rethugs and the willing MSM though...Kerry's message was there if you were interested enough and made an effort to see him live. I've decided to add some things about the Katrina disaster...

19. I really think Kerry is pretty much out of the picture for 08'.
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 11:42 PM by Clarkie1
Gore, Hillary, Clark, and perhaps Edwards and Feingold will be the major contenders, imo.

Of course, a lot can happen between now and then....

As for the film, it sounds like a load of bull.

23. Maybe the film itself isn't, but the spin being put on it might be
and then again, it's somewhat telling, Shrum notwithstanding, that some folks refused to speak to the fellow making the film. Makes me wonder why.

24. I think it's too early to tell who's in and who's out.
Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 12:09 AM by politicasista
Nobody knows what the political landscape is going to be like three years from now. I am going to keep saying this because we all know it's true. We need to be focused on 2006. Whoever runs in 2008 (and hopefully wins the presidency) is going to have a huge, massive, I mean MASSIVE mess to clean up after * leaves office. Some of us are forgetting that.

2006, 2006, 2006, then we will have a clear picture of who's running.

21. I hate these after campaign analyses for any of our candidates.
Campaigns are rough, and kissing and telling does not help.
