Russ Feingold for President?
I have heard from a few people that Feingold is going to run for Pres. in 2008, mainly my friend who said he received a letter from Russ. First of all, I'm wondering if this is true because I can't find anything on the internet. Also, do you guys think he has a chance to win? I know he is loved in WI, and I think the bordering states, but is he known enough on the national level?

1. I don't know if he can win, but I hope he gets into the race.
We badly need him as part of the dialogue. There are certainly alot of people who are interested in having him run. I like him alot, although he's not my first choice.

4. The guy in my avatar.
That's Wes Clark if you don't recognize him. I have a great deal of respect for Feingold as well though, and definitely would like to see him make a major contribution to the primary dialogue. I could enthusiastically support him if he got the nomination as well, which is more than I can say for most of the names being tossed around.

If so, look here

on edit: oh dear, oh dear, look at the front page of the PPF website. He's headed for New Hampshire on Sept 30th. Now what does THAT tell you?

9. If he brings his PR department with him, maybe
His ads are always so positive. That might play well in this day and age of mud and nastiness. A breath of fresh air, as it were.

I'll tell you one thing. I'll be conflicted if he and Kerry are in the primaries together.

7. 2006! 2006! If Feingold can lead in 2006, maybe he can lead in 2008.
2006 comes before 2008. 2008 is three times as far away.

You're likely to get all sorts of accusations thrown at you, especially if you have a low post count. There are people on here who are obsessed by the idea that everyone has some sort of sinister agenda in every post.

Just keep on posting and don't let the turkeys get you down. :hi:

passionate about some issues because they have more of a direct impact on my very life.Something that SOME people do not have to worry about no matter what laws get overturned or who is in office because they know they will always be taken care of and their rights will NEVER be violated.:eyes: ...Don't act like you don't get that.

unless they support people like Edwards or Kerry who voted for the war and the Patriot Act.

17. I like Feingold....
Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 03:15 AM by FrenchieCat
Personally. Yes, I do like Senator Feingold well enough. I think that he is articulate, states his cases well, and comes across as honest, thoughful and intelligent. He did vote against the patriot Act and the IWR which makes him a cut above the rest. He seems to be no nonsense in his persona.

He's got some strikes against him that might make a run difficult, however.....
He been divorced twice...and is currently unmarried
He's very Jewish in terms of his name and his outward looks which might be a real problem with the hidden bigots that live in the US
He's a senator, and can be easily be portrayed as weak on defense, based on his history of Senate votes....even voted against Kosovo with the Republicans during Clinton. Voted Nay on many a defense bill.
THink he voted to impeach Clinton as well...so there might be some bad blood there.
He's a maverick, hence he's unpredictable and sometimes doesn't appear consistent....Don't know if voters are gonna feel confident with that fact. As an example, his "yes" vote on Roberts may hurt him in the liberal circles where his base might be located for a primary run.

So it's hard to say what his chances are in 2008. Things are moving, so we'll know soon enough.

23. Well, I've long ago figured out that nobody is perfect.
If enough time elapses, every single Democrat that we have out there who has been lauded as a hero will have a fall from grace and turn into a villain on this board by doing something that pisses people off. I guess it's just Feingold's turn right now.

I'm willing to cut people some slack when overall they have strongly stood for the things that I believe in, knowing that no one is going to satisfy me 100% of the time. I guess I'm just kind of strange that way.

25. Maybe not....
But your giddie posts full of LOL! don't really give us much to go on...and since you don't provide the articulation as to why you keep mentioning Edwards in just about every post....the notion of the a "deep thinker" being attached to your username just isn't conjured up. And the fact that you "so like" Edwards...and so far, I have only heard one reason that you have given; that he was the son of a mill worker and he grew up poor....and you are willing to skewer Feingold for his vote on Roberts....but Edwards is perfect although he voted for the war...seems a little out of balance.

It's obvious that you are boosting Edwards, but no one knows why...cause you have yet to state your case....in all of your Edwards posts that I have read to date.

So some folks are starting to have to guess that its must be because you find him "cute".

I really believe you have combined responses to other threads and are confusing views stated as mine.I was merely staying on the subject and have mentioned Edwards as my RESPONSE to QUESTIONS asked. As far as the LOL goes.I place them there for the HIGHLY SENSITIVE who think everyone is out to insult them. Most of my LOL are in the subject field.

Edited for additional comment:As far as Edwards voting for the war goes, his decision, like others was based on the LIE that was unknown at the time: that the Retard of the United States misled ALL of us to believe.

Although I do read pretty well...and do pay attention to who is posting what.

BTW, its ok if you think that Edwards is cute.

Don't think that I have any doubts that General Clark, apart from having an outstanding character, a brilliant mind and an honest heart, is also a mighty fine looking man. I don't have a problem with that....I just have so many reasons for supporting Wes Clark, his looks is just a small matter in the larger equation...but it sure does make my support that much more interesting....and that is a definite plus, for sho'!

I know this is a Feingold thread...but hey, so what?
I'm taking liberties here.
Y'all excuse me for a minute. K?

my support for John Edwards as being somewhat starstruck by him.You are the one insisting that I find him attractive and that must be the only reason why I continue to "mention" him in "all" of my post. The truth is, I see in John Edwards, a man who "truly" cares about other people and will stand up for them.By the way, you've only stated that Clark has an outstanding character and a brilliant mind."Now AIN'T that the pot calling the kettle BLACK?"

P.S. so does JOHN EDWARDS but I don't have a bunch of political 'pin-ups" to display. After all, I'm not OBSESSED with the man.I just think he could lead our country.

39. To be honest,You are the one who started this dialect, I will always
respond. It's just a part of my character.I honestly have no interest in how you feel about a man you seem to be obsessed with.I actually have read your posts and see the way you badger other people when they fail to mention the love of your life and express their deep devotion to the one democrat you feel so passionately about.According to the tone of your other threads, you do not seem to appreciate others differing opinions rather instead you attack them and when they retaliate to your bullying, you accuse them of doing the very same thing that you start. In layman's terms, you can dish it, but you can't take it.I would rather do research on things that matter and not you whom I know not.Thank you though.

32. Hope not. Seems to like fascists a lot...like Roberts. Can't seem to
notice that he's a criminal of the Bush Gang. Feingold does some good work...asks a lot of good questions and then often does an about face. I hope he stops taking all the money he takes from the Israeli PAC, maybe it would clear his judgment.

Why does he not come out and declare the war illegal and immoral?

and suspect he'll be running for prez. I am disappointed in him for approving Roberts though, and yes, as stated above, he "shoots from the hip", maybe just too many times. But you must admit, he is his own man. And yes, his ads have always been professional, concise, and clean. He has my respect, but I'm not so sure about my vote. I'm taking a wait and see attitude.

37. I'm not too pleased by the Roberts vote either...
but taken on the whole, one would be hard pressed to find a national figure better qualified to be president.

In the longterm this "let presidents choose their people" posture might pay off, though. It gives him the high ground when he or whichever Democrat is president in 2009 is trying to appoint people and the GOP are acting like toddlers about it. This political leverage is of more use than another nay tally in a vote for someone who will be appointed regardless.
